Some friends and I on another forum had been discussing re-starting a local event that never made it back from Covid. It reminded me of this thread from a few years ago and the discussion it started about someone taking on the mantle to re-start the Knob Creek events:

https://www.uzitalk.com/forums/index.php?threads/last-knob-creek-shoot-october-2021.95592/

I'm a bit surprised that nobody ever really tried to re-start that event as there certainly seemed to be an appetite for it. Anyway, the funny thing is that I went on the official website and below the announcement saying that the 2021 event was the final machine gun shoot, it said, "Thank you for the many calls sharing your memories of the MGShoot." I kind of chuckled because I assumed they were being diplomatic about the torrent of calls demanding that they continue the event.

Remember that the "FAL Files" used to host an annual shoot at the NRA Whittington center.
The people that started, organized and ran the event for years tried to hand it off to other members, even taking the time to try and do a formal hand off with all the event info.
It was the end of it.
The reality is running any shooting event is a lot of work, especially a large scale one.
Add in a whole lot of vendors, staff and the hassle's of insurance and you need a really dedicated group with funding to pull it off.
Some range facilities that once were good for a large MG shoot have suffered encroachment of housing units and so don't have a safe impact area any more.
Knob Creek lives on in memory and YouTube never to return...

Sad but true. Survivor's SKS group had a camping/shooting event twice a year that started off as just a bunch of us renting out the range and camping overnight but by the end it had catered food, competitions with prizes, tactical classes and some corporate sponsorship. It had really become a family event too. During COVID it stopped and then the range made it unrealistic to restart and we lost our contact to the place anyway. A few of us tried to look into other venues but so far no-go, though a few of us did manage to get together a couple of weeks ago. It was bittersweet.
