Been seeing the ads for FN Browning HiPower in Shotgun News. Doe any one have any experience with these guns? Are they worth the money? Were they originally built for the Israeli army? Any info appreciated.

What's to know? John M Browning designed it, you shoot, any further questions can be asked after the shooting ceases

I bought one from Aim Distributors earlier this year. It has an alloy frame, made in Belgium. They only had a few alloy framed HiPowers. It doesn't have any Hebrew markings so I don't know country of origin.

It was in great shape except for carry marks from a holster. I sent it to John Andrewski and he refinished it. It looks nice and runs great. CDNN has best prices on MecGar factory magazines.

Good luck

I don't know about the newer ones, but I bought a new Hi-power in 1967 ($200), steel frame, made in Belgium (Fabrique National).

I still shoot it occasionally & I've put a hell of a lot of 9MM through the thing over the years, and to be honest, I don't think I've ever had a single malfunction (at least I don't remember any). It also saved my butt one day back in the mid '70's (didn't have to fire it - just pulled it & the goobers decided they had better things to do). It's an old friend.

It's not the most accurate pistol I own (I think they set them up a lot "looser" back then...the slide rattles a little if you shake it), but It's probably the most reliable pistol I've ever shot.

Can't go wrong with them IMHO.....

I have one from 1974. It is a little loose and rattles. Mine doesn't like conical hollow points. Loves hydroshoks.
