Well guys I got the UZI out yesterday and put 500 +/- rounds through it. All in all a great experience. I spent time going through my different mags and sorting out the great ones from the problem children. i was also experimenting with different types of ammunition. So far my gun loves the SB 115 and 124 the best followed by the Blaser Brass 124. I had 3 or 4 malfunctions that I noticed the bullet push almost 1/2 way into the case, this only happened with the BB. I forgot to take a picture of it. Has anyone ever seen this before? BTW I couldn’t get any 147gr to run even round nose.

I have an extra barrel 16” semi that I want to get cut and threaded, plus maybe some chamber work done. what do I ask for for this from the Gun Smith?

Get a funnel cut on the chamber end of your barrel, it improves feeding 1000%.
the guy who posts here called barrelxchange did a very nice job for me.
It's mysterious to me why the IMI factory funnel is so lame. They could have put a HUGE funnel on the end of the barrel and not affected the chamber size or the length of the barrel.
Thompsons are the exact polar opposite, they have a giant bullet funnel and will literally feed an empty case.

FWIW, the now defunct Olympic Arms K series (e.g., K9, K40, K45, etc.) also featured a very generous feed path. I have a K45 upper that feeds flawlessly. Mags are special, and unobtainium, though.

MHO, YMMV, etc.

This sounds great. Did they modify your barrel with that cut, or did you have them make you one of their UZI barrels? What do you think of polishing the feed ramp? I promise I'm NOT a fanboy with polishing LOL, but I did a mild polish on mine and I like it

Personally, I think it's OK to take a piece of emery cloth or very fine sandpaper wrapped around a rod and take a few swipes at the feed ramp to smooth and deburr it a little.

I don't know why people make the feed ramp mirror bright. I guess it's that "more is better" idea. I've owned 130+ guns in my life and I never needed a single one to have a mirror feed ramp to function well.

Also, sometimes people polish feed ramps so much that they actually put a belly in it. I knew a police armorer who said that when a cop turned in his gun with a polished feed ramp they would just get rid of it.

I honestly think that the feed ramp in my UZI doesn't do much. Mine has a really nice billet ramp installed, but it ran the same with the crappy sheet metal one. It runs good, very few jams. Has anyone ever put some kind of paint or lipstick on their feed ramp and checked if the cartridges are even hitting it? I guess I could try it.

barrelxchange did the funnel job on my KAK FBI barrel, not one of his.
