Man, I just stumbled upon this thread. I have been trying to contact Blackthorne and any other manufacturer about an AR length railed gas tube. Are you still making these, and how do I get one?

Thanks,
David

Suka hasn't been around for awhile. He actually got replaced as the moderator a few months ago.

Days ago, I had just emailed a machinist on the weaponsguild forum about making these in AR/ARM length (before seeing this thread.) He said he could make them, but would be awhile, since he didn't have any pre-orders.

Should I let him know that there is interest here? If so, how many are seriously interested?

Here is his website:

I'll make a point to email him this thread... I'm sure he could find some useful info here.

And yes, it is Turbothis' website. Though I've never purchased from him (yet), he and his work seem very highly regarded by the members on that forum.

We may just get these things yet!

Yeah Matt does great work. If he builds them I'll buy one or more if he can get them down to $100. I could also loan him my Micro railed tube if he needs to see it for a pattern and just increase the length.

I'll bet we could get 40-50 orders right here if they are made to spec. I have no doubt that he can do it.

BTW, I had one of the tubes made for this original thread a few years back. They were definitely not to spec.

I finally sent him a link to this thread. Hopefully it'll be some good info for him to make these tubes.

This may also be a good place for those of you with the originals to note where they were out of spec.

Mods: Let me know if a new thread would be more appropriate for this.

Thanks!

Turbothis was inquiring about what was out of spec on the original tubes, so please post your experiences with them.

He was also asking about what material to make them from. He had mentioned 1018, possibly black oxide treated.

Anyone know what material would be best? Also what would be better, oxide, parkerized, or in the white?

I would vote for parked, but I don't know if he does this, or just oxide.

Ugh! - Finally got back to your PM.

He said that he is not set up for parkerize, but if we get enough votes on it, maybe we will be able to convince him! I understand that parkerizing is not difficult or expensive to get in to, but that would be up to him.

Let's keep the votes coming in, plus any other info on the tubes that would be helpful for him to making these.

I have only spoken to him about making the AR/ARM length, since the SAR tube is already available at akpartskits.com

But once he gets the design worked out, it shouldn't be a problem for him to make the shorter version. It's just a matter of him deciding whether or not it makes sense for him economically. I would yes, but I don't know what his materials/machine time/margins are.
