hey guys , some questions here , too mabe help me out, looking to get a polytech aks-762, were they all machined recievers, i am seeing one thats an early model , imported from KFS in atlanta georga, its an side folder w/ bakelite furniture, new in box, stats new old stock, cannot tell from pics if its milled or stamped, usally on a milled rec you see a milled depression on the right side of the reciever, plus he wants 1700, which i think?? bit high,is it? ,, i would have to sell a new in box beretta sxs 12ga silver hawk to get one,, i really want a double under folder,,,

also how does the side folder compare to the under, it looks akward, but i havnt handled niether, owned a poly legend years ago , had to sell for food , for the 3 little kids, tring to recapture my youth,
which would you guys recommend, and at what price would be expected to pay for a new , or used well kept model??

Also im in new york which i think doesnt matter since they are all pre-ban
thanks guys for any answers,,, :marines

The side folders are a more stable shooter. The under folder flexes too much for me. I have owned both and the side folder is a much more stable platform/system. JMHO.

thx guys keep them comming, i am thinking its a stamped reciever it sure looks that way ,. did polytech make stamped recvers in the early years , this model has a 3 digit ser#, which i am def not buying, it just caught my eye, but i was under the assumption all polys were milled , not saying anything bad on the stamped , but price should follow suit , this rifle i am refering to is on GB, no bayo, claims to be rare? with the bakelike furnature?

I am not stomping this guys add i actually like the rifle , just to blingy, high dollar right now,and not really what i want , i am an impulse buyer see it buy it , dont like it as its not what i really wanted from the get, sell it lose money but i have learned , by loseing money from doing that, anyone care to look at it auction #19284453. tell me if its stamped or milled, i tried to email it wont let me, i am regestered and on file for years with GB, thx guys ,,,,,,,,,

If its a original Polytech side folder, then its a stamped receiver..The polytech Legend underfolder had the milled rec....I thought you could ask seller questions on GB?

It is stamped and that is kind of a rare variant. Personally, I wouldn't pay that much. Contact the guy and dicker the price with him...it's been up for some time at that price I'd bet. Start at $1200 shipped and go from there. The worst he can say is no and you're not out anything. I wouldn't go much over $1200 if I was in the market for one. :dunno

Thanks Surly, i just got the itch for a double underfolder, would prefer a milled reciever, but if its a matter of a grand i can live with a stamped version, my only issue is living in n.y. , we have to buy preban stuff. i figured in my head that price you quoted would be a good target zone to look for, and ofcorse patientce is a virtue, one will pop up at the right price , i need to move 1 or 2 high end rifles before i jump on one i will keep searching, just missed a new old stock poly double underfolder on arfcom. that thing was listed in july dont know how i missed it , i am looking there almost daily,, the wood was sweet as was the hole unit, he wound up trading, anyway , just keep looking,

they turn up when ya least expect it, plus i dont like that ,take it as it is for close to 2 k, sight unseen, wtf,,, atleast a 3 day would be reasonable. some guys out there are asking crazy dollars 2300 for a polyteck milled straight stock, semi auto, i think for that money it should be solid gold? ok not gold silver, w/ gold trim,,LOL

The "double folders" were only made with a stamped receiver, by Polytech.

If you're going to shoot it, the side folders are the way to go. If its going to be a safe Queen then go for what you want.

Why not build your own double folder, starting with a new polish underfolder...and add the bayonet setup..and groove out your lower handguard? It wouldnt cost $1800 :)

I like to buy examples of these rifles in excellent condition and am generally willing to pay a little more for them.

From that perspective, I would say that this thing is $400.00 more expensive than it should be.

fOR THAT MATTER, I HAVE BEEN LOOKING, A NICE , FOLDER, NORINCO WHICH SEEMS TO BE 1/3 LESS, WOULDNT BE A BAD CHOICE, I WOULDNT BE SHOOTING IT MUCH, I WILL BE HAPPY WITH A SINGLE FOLDER, THATS REALLY CLEAN, BEEN FINDING SOME AT 1K OR EVEN AS LOW A 600. SO I THINK ITS JUST A WAITING GAME, PLUS RIGHT PLACE RIGHT TIME THING..SURE LIKE TO HAVE THE BEST OF THE BEST? FROM THE LITTLE I KNOW, BUT ITS GOING IN NO SHOWS, JUST WANT A FOLDER THATS CORRECT IN IT CONFIGURATION, AND A RELIABLE GUN, WHICH IS HOW I LOOK AT ALL I OWN,

$600 would be a reasonable price for an underfolder. I might spring for one at that price and I'm not in a ban state. :D

Atlantic Firearms has a couple of underfolders on their site, including some milled vectors....I always wanted one, and then I got one and ran some mags through it. I thought, this stock is horseshit and I sold it a few days later. For consistent shooting I stick with a triangle folder or a solid stock. As far as norinco being the best of the best? Well...........
