I have an IMI registered reciver fullsize UZI that was converted by Billistics. The semi auto barrel retaining ring has been cut to full auto specs, basically the ring is not there. The barrel that came with the gun I believe is a factory SMG barrel, the barrel is not necked down at the breach. My question is can I use a SMG barrel that is cut down for the retaining ring, even though the retaining ring is not there? If you look at the barrel pictures in the reference library I have barrels A & C. "A" is the one that came with the gun, "B" is the one I would like to use if possible. The whole point of this questoin is I want to get one of the barrels threaded for a silencer but I want to make sure they are both compatable first.

The answer is there is more play in the semi barrel. I was told it would decrease accuracy. I bought a semi and put it in mine with not problems. The tight tolerance in the ring is to keep the barrel from bouncing around. I have never had a chambering problem with it. I can't comment to much with accuracy. After a couple shots I get bored and start hosing the target.:heavy

The barrel can be supported by two different things - the restrictor ring by the feed ramp and the trunion. You didn't mention if the trunion had been bored out to standard SMG size as part of the conversion. If the gun came with a completely factory SMG barrel, then the trunion must have been bored out. If your second barrel is just like type "C" in the library, then it still has the full size trunion bans like a real SMG barrel. If that's the case, then the trunion fully supports the barrel and it doesn't matter if the barrel restrictor ring is gone or not and it doesn't matter if the chamber end of the barrel is reduced or not. Barrels A, B and C would all be fine in a gun with an SMG spec trunion and no restrictor ring.
