I'm looking at a Volmer built HK51 using an FMP receiver. I know little about the HK51 (I'm more interested in the sear it hosts). Can anybody tell me the differences/desirability of a Volmer FMP based HK51 versus one built from another receiver, eg HK91? And an idea on the approximate value of just the host (or the host + a Fleming sear)?

I’ve got a Volmer FMP 51. Not many builders did them back in the day.
Quality work. FMP were built on HK tooling.

They are a real crowd pleaser if you are looking for
Flames & Big Bang. Very soft shooting.
Wear plugs + earphones.

Prob worth 4-5k

My take on 51s…
HK91 by known builder > FMP91 by Vollmer> clone by known builder (eg MM ) < PTR < the rest

There are also 51Bs done on push-pin HK91 RRs, but that is
a totally different ballgame, lol…

51 is a custom gun, so builder means a lot

It sold on Sturm with Fleming sear for $45,000 in like 2 hours, FWIW.

Wow, that is a considerable premium over a sear
