ATF recently reclassified my Post '86 Micro UZI to Pre '86 Sales Sample and I have the ATF letter. Has any other SOT seen this reclassification for a Micro UZI that they may have? Thank.

I was under the impression that micro Uzis were never imported, prior to the 86 ban. I could be wrong as I’m just now getting into Uzi’s.

Uzi pistols were imported in 1984, was it a pistol that was converted to a machine gun for LE or something? This doesn’t quite make sense

They weren’t micro Uzis didn’t come out til 1986 after the cutoff
So it can’t be a pre sales sample then. Someone made a mistake; unfortunately, these things happen. Good thing it wasn’t a transferable, that turned into a sales sample.

Answer to AK: ATF "flipped" a number of pre'86 guns to transferable and apparently some (at least one) post'86 to pre'86. ATF reclassified 2 of my pre'86 guns to transferable, one being a full size UZI. There are 2-3 requirements by ATF as to how they made the reclassifications. And, at least one (1) Micro was imported prior to 5/19/86. This Micro is NOT a UZI pistol converted to smg and the UZI pistols began importation in 1984 for several years thereafter. I have been a Class III for 37 years and know the difference. I recently talked with another Class III and he knew of several post '86 guns reclassified to pre'86 guns.

Answer to KickStand: Apparently an unknown number of Micro UZIs were imported prior to 5/19/86 s per ATF's records. I cannot argue with their records.

Damn, that’s Awesome. I’m sure this is new news to a lot of people on here (at least to me, it’s new).

Personally, I would NOT poke the bear with asking them anything else. They might change their mind (they’ve been known to do that, once or twice).

Thanks KickStand, my whole point in asking my original ?? was to see if anyone knew if there was another Pre'86 Micro in the U.S. I have done a lot of research and I cannot find any reference to more. Maybe there is?

I understand what the atf did. Was just un aware that ANY micros made the cutoff date. But I’m still confused by your statement it went from a POST sample to a PRE sample, or a PRE to a transferable? I’ve only heard of the atf making pre sales samples transferables. Not post to pre
