Well,....finally got the call that ATF had approved my M11. (10.5 months!) Already had the MAX 11-15 upper for about 6 weeks.
With contacts I have great vision at long distance but my reader vision is to the point I have to use readers to see things clearly around 1-2.5 feet. So, with that said is there a good optic that would enable me to see a red dot, holographic, crosshairs, as well as the target as clear as possible? Don’t want to spend a fortune on optics, but considering BUIS in addition to something like a 1 to 3 power optic for good target acquisition.
Appreciate any recommendations from those seasoned shooters with similar vision circumstances.

A trick. Can’t guarantee this will work for you, but it works for me. Put BUIS on the gun, and look at your red dot through the peep of the rear site. My red dots are awful blurry as is, but crystal clear if I do this. Works on the same principal as pinhole reading glasses.

Vision-wise, I'm in the same boat needing corrective lenses to focus up close. I'm pretty sure all of the good quality name brand stuff (EOTech, Trijicon, Aimpoint) put the reticles or red dots at an apparent distance of infinity which means you don't need to worry about them. I can tell you to definitely avoid the imitation (replica, clone, counterfeit) ACOGs. I bought and tested 5 of those last year and all of them had reticles that were at an apparent distance of 18 inches meaning they were blurry for me. My wife and son have younger eyes that can focus up close and to them, the knock-off ACOG reticles were in focus. I wouldn’t worry about any BUIS. Since the MAX-11/15 is fairly expensive to operate, I don’t think you’ll ever be taking it out as an afterthought, and you’ll make sure you have spare batteries if you need them.

Gaffshot:
Basically looking for an optic that is reliable, but the biggest thing is I need to see the reticle clearly (not blurry) inside the scope without wearing reader glasses. Richard L suggested I look at Primary Arms as well. The price seems right, but looking for someone who has had issues with blurry vision up close and its not a problem when trying to shoot a target 50-100 yards away. Does the Primary Arms ACSS Prism 3x or 5x Gen II become blurry when viewing the chevron reticle in the red color?
Thanks again for the blind shooters out there who have found the best optics to shoot their rifle, or in this case a FA rifle, and perhaps shooting for accuracy in Semi Auto.

Just stating the obvious, but the more money you spend on an optic the clearer the glass will be. Nightforce or Leupold. Everything is a compromise, money, weight, quality, etc.

Is the primary arms LPVO clear? Not compared to NF or Leupold.

large eotechs can be $350 when on sale...I toss eotechs on almost all my guns..largest field of view, military grade

you just spend $3,000 on the upper...grab a good red dot

Eotech red dot gets the job done on the 15 for me, I wear glasses, contacts and non prescription sunglasses when shooting and it’s fine for all applications.

Perhaps the Eotech would be a good option. Taking possession of the M11 next week, so will use BUIS to start with, then graduate to the EoTech 512.A65.

Next To Do is buying the right ammo. Richard had suggested Wolf Polyformance or Federal LC XM193. Where are the best deals on 500 or 1000 rounds of Lake City?

Buy an Aimpoint.

If you're going to get an Eotech, might as well save a couple hundred and just buy a Chinese whateverthehell. Probably just as durable and reliable.

It sounds you are nearsighted and have come to age where presbyopia is becoming an issue for you. The main question you need to answer yourself is whether you know you are having any astigmatisms? If you have astigmatisms and your contact lenses are not correcting them adequately, red dots and holographics might very well not be the best option for you.

I can suggest there are likely valid reasons the US military predominately uses the Aimpoint M68CCO on their rifles. The Aimpoint CompM4s is the latest civilian equivalent.

If you are not already aware, the USSOCOM issued safety warnings regarding the use of EOTech optics in the field and subsequently EOTech was sued by the US Government for civil fraud in recent years. Despite knowing their products were defective, they continued selling them to the military and civilians for years. To my knowledge, the issue of "thermal drift" still has not been solved and recent consumers frequently report QC issues and lack of customer support since the lawsuit forced extensive layoffs.

My most recent optics acquisition is a Holosun HE510c-GR. I have been very impressed with it. It works well for me despite my astigmatisms, and it is significantly cheaper than Aimpoint and EOTech.

Wow...so many good recommendations on here! I kinda like the Holosun HE510C-GR. When hunting with my bow, I find I can see the green better than red sight pins. Does a green dot holographic scope easier to see than a red dot? I also like the quick release feature. I could possibly put it on my MAX 10-31 on short notice. My 10-31 currently has a Sig Romeo 5 on it.
I’m also interested in being able to use the front sight as a co-witness possibly. Although I assume that a nice cheek weld to the Magpul adjustable rear stock would provide good consistent repeatable groups?

Anybody else have suggestions for something in the $300-$400 range?
I find this group to be well educated on the best economic optics for an 11-15 type FA carbine.
The only other question is what is the cleanest and best ammo to buy in bulk for the 11-15?
Thanks, Opee
Thanks,

I use the Holosun too and like it a lot. No vision problems yet.

Wolf gold runs like a top in the 11/15.

I’m leaning towards and Eotech 512 as of tonight. I keep reading about EOTech fakes out there. Is there a way to ID a fake? I see on eBay there are some reputable sellers (high numbers in the US) with prices about $340.00’ish.

EOTechs are great sights and in my opinion, ideal for the MAX-11/15 (or any of the MAX's). There is or was a chance of sight drift at extreme temperatures but nothing you are likely to see wherever and whenever you are in the mood to go shooting (I haven't had a issue, I own several):

As far as the fakes, here is some good info:

I use EOtechs. I am very aware of the negative publicity about thermal drift surrounding their products. However, I don't shoot in those temperature extremes that may cause thermal drift, and I just shoot for fun. The military's issue is with EOtech doesn't really affect me as I'm not being deployed.
All that being said, the EOtech is easy on my aging eyes. My astigmatism and presbyopia dont hinder my use of my EOtechs.

Buy an Aimpoint.
Staaahhp with the fanboy

Eotechs are excellent. As are Aimpoints.

I own 3 Eotechs that have been on a 1/2 dozen different platforms and all performed excellently.

The circle - dot reticle is excellent for FA.
