When the RO's and Scorer's can't see hits on the "hidden" targets, that's a problem. Greta idea, but....
Ehhh, i thought it was great. So what if I missed one, or more, or a bunch. The challenge was appreciated. It definitely added a cool dimension to the stage. But take my comments with a grain of salt, I probably ranked 41st out of 40.

I know I was way down there too, but I’m eagerly waiting to see the results. Lmao

Guys… big picture, I think we all need to realize that if we want matches to continue, we need to relax a bit. John did this for fun. If we suck all the fun out by squabbling, bitching, and not lending a hand… the event will not continue.

I felt it needed to be said “out loud”

The hidden targets were awesome. There may have been a bit of good-natured bellyaching about them, but there was no real negativity that I heard. From a shooter's perspective that fourth stage was my favorite of the match ... even with the walk!

AMEN!
Quit taking stuff so seriously, there’s not a million dollar purse at the end. Go out meet some nice people that enjoy the same things as you. Above all have fun and be thankful someone is willing to put the work into organizing and running something like this.

I had a great time and I am hoping John feels up to running it next year! I already have another couple of folks who didn't make it this year that want to come next year.

Nah, we were doing the tear-down. One target was semi-hidden in the bushes, and… we nearly forgot to collect it at the end of the day.
Clearly it was difficult (sometimes) to either hear the bullet hit the steel or see it move due to the color and location of a couple of the targets, especially in the late afternoon. Everyone seems to know what target(s), mainly one of them, I'm talking about. As stated, it's the RO or Scorer who has to call out hit so the shooter can move on, if they don't call it and the shooter moves on they are probably getting penalized 10 seconds and for the shooters who go to matches to have FUN and be COMPETITIVE, it matters. I had one shooter say he can't see the target during his run on Stage 4, this should not happen.

This was a fun match, no doubt and everyone appreciates John putting it on. I've RO'd with John at KCR and Michigan for years and he is obviously a very good shooter and is also very competitive. If John has an opinion about targets or their placement, he has no problem voicing his opinion, I've seen it. There is no criticism of John here, just pointing out a couple of targets color and/or location could have been better for his planning for next year.

I was giving a tip of the hat to the Jungle Walk from Knob Creek where you didn’t know where all the targets were, just knew that there were a certain amount and didn’t get to have a walk through.

I don’t have an issue with voicing an opinion when targets are set where you don’t have a chance to shoot them (half hidden star at Michigan 2 years ago) but I can see some peoples points on this one. It was meant to be a little bit of a mind game to see how good peoples memory was and how well they could study the course.

I have yet to decide if or what will come of next year. I’m still in recovery mode.

Can we get the results from the match if you happen to have kept them? Was really hoping to see where I ended up being my first match.

I’ll echo JTM and say please run it again next year! Met some really nice people at the meet and would love to meet up with everyone again next year.

In for the results. I’m sure I’m in the middle to the bottom of the pack. Not at all my best match. But that’s on me. I didn't shoot all that well but I still had a really fun time. I shot the Reising in Iron Sights division, mostly because I haven't played with that gun much in several years. It runs well, but it's difficult to shoot well in this type of competition. I had a handful of magazine-related malfunctions on the Uzi in Unlimited. But that's all it takes.

Now that we've had a week or so to decompress, here are a few of my thoughts. I really liked the stages. It was technically more difficult than many matches that we shoot. And I enjoyed that. The brown steel targets were deceptive. We all get used to shooting "good enough". But when there is a scoring zone within a larger steel target and anywhere outside of that zone is a "miss", if we're just listening for a "ping" on steel, all of the sudden that might not be good enough.

There were a lot of penalties handed out at this match. I believe we had one shooter on my squad who shot the match clean (no penalties) in his morning run. And it wouldn't surprise me if that was the only clean run of the day. It would be interesting to see the breakdown of raw time + penalties.

One that bit me on Stage 1 was the array of ten poppers in an L-shape that had to be taken down in a single burst. Once the burst stopped, anything left standing could not be reengaged and was a penalty. I mowed them all down in a burst with the Reising in the morning, but when I ran this stage in the afternoon with the Uzi, I fired one shot and then had a malfunction. So I ended up with nine penalties. This is where you need to have your gun/ammo/gear all sorted out beforehand. Very high disaster factor.

I read some comments here about the hidden target on Stage 4. Yeah, you really couldn't see it. It was a large black steel target in the shade behind a bush. You just had to shoot into the bush in the right area. But I will say it was clearly pointed out during the walk-through. There were one or two people who shot in the wrong area of the bush at first, but they were able to adjust and find it.

Everyone seemed to like the stage with the four Texas stars. I had a pretty good run on that one at the end of the day with the Uzi.

Hopefully we will get to do it again next year. Thanks to John for putting it on!

Yeah, I need to go through my videos and post that one. At that point, what else are you going to do?

I felt your frustration during some of my miscues. Especially listening for the two hits on the browns, only to discover I wasn’t shooting accurately 🤦🏻

For the “hidden” target at the upper range… you had to walk to be able to see them all. They were not all visible from one vantage point. I had a good plan for hitting them all. My plan evaporated when the timer went “beep”. I missed the one super obvious target in the hill, after carefully shooting all the hidden ones.

I think the match was skewed towards subguns and bursts… and since it is a subgun match, I think that is right and proper….

My view may be biased, since my Stemple runs Drums 🙂
