If it’s a D&D bolt, they received ATF approval to make and sell these. Not sure if anyone else got approval.

Fully supported bolt face and slotted???

If it didnt have the slot Id buy it for a closed bolt setup in my RR.

Awwww heck, it's not a mistake at all. We're all here to gain knowledge and learn. I ask questions all the time. LoL...
Some areas are more gray, than black and white.
Great discussion for sure!! Have a great day!

LOL Im not offended by the feed lip. Heck I WANT the feed lip for my RR. Would love to have a closed bolt setup. Think Ill keep looking for one with no slot though.
I was thinking more along the lines of keeping others out of trouble.

Would the Slot prevent it from working in your RR?

Due to the "Slot", which would make the Bolt lighter, how much faster will it run as a CB FA vs a non-slotted Bolt CB FA?

No, didn’t know that.
My mistake.
I do apologize for my mis-information.

I don’t think you have anything to apologize for. I think it’s a good thing that there’s a little more info out there to let people know they’re not an instant felon if they have a semi auto bolt with a full lip. The obscure ATF ruling is just one little inch of victory towards firearm freedom, which is rare these days.

Pure speculation, but I think milling off the feed lip was just something IMI had to do to appease the government to import the guns, but doesn’t apply in any way after they are here or if they’re built here.

As far as dropping into a RR to convert to closed bolt, I’m thinking the blocking bar slot being cut out and the weight lost would have little impact on ROF. I think the crazy cyclic rate is drive by the dual springs and shorter travel distance.

I know in open bolts a slotted bolt runs a little faster. In the closed bolt configuration it might run faster but I doubt you would notice the difference. Perhaps if you ran them side by side it would be noticeable.

There is a really good write up on why the closed bolt is so fast. This test indicates it’s primarily related to the two springs. Would be curious to see the results of a slotted versus non-slotted closed bolt, but I bet the difference wouldn’t be noticeable.
