I'm closing a deal on a NIB Vector full-size and now I'm torn on whether to shoot it or leave it alone and hope I can get a post-sample at a later date for a shooter. I know there seems to be a lot of NIB Vectors out there but they're bound to be shot as time goes on, should I not even worry about the "collectability/investment" of it remaining a NIB? I'd appreciate anyones views that has gone thru this before whether it's with an UZI or other NFA.

Shoot it, that's what it was made for. As an investment, it still wont lose value IMHO. Karl.

Shoot it

Invest in mutual funds, stocks, and real estate. Uzi's are to be shot and enjoyed. It is possibly true that many years from now a NIB Uzi will bring more money that a used one, but think of all the value of the fun you will have missed. Uzi's are tough and unless you really abuse the gun it will run for many years and look virtually new. I have a Vector FA Uzi with many thousands of rounds and the only wear I notice is polishing on the bottom of the receiver and where the folding stock hinges. Go ahead shoot it.:heavy :heavy :angel3

Shoot it and shoot it often and with freinds.

I got my NIB Vector a year ago and waited and waited for similar reasons. I told myself that I had other 9mm FAs and I really didn't need to shoot the Uzi.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Went out last week. Took my future son-in-law and two of his buds. Put over 2500 rounds down range. None of us have stopped smiling since.

Shoot it. Shoot it often. Have fun. I haven't seen the price go down, have you? Look at where they were a couple of years ago.

Someone said that shooting Class III is like a free hobbie. Sure you have to pay for ammo, but you will always be able to get your original price back out of the gun when you sell it.

Just my .02¢ and worth every penny.

Dave

Another thing. There is a remote chance that you may have a flaw in it. You NEED to run about 10,000 rounds at least just to make sure it doesn't need any warrantee work. Vector may not always be doing Uzi work. Get it broken in and then put it back in the safe if that is your thing. Or just keep shooting. You really aren't going to sell it anyway.

I have to agree with comments posted on xm15e2s's similar question - shoot it or don't. If you want to maximize your investment, leave it NIB (ZERO rounds though it.) Don't worry about warranty issues because whoever buys it for top dollar later on will also leave it NIB. If you want to enjoy it, shoot it as much as you like. If you're careful with the gun then shooting it will have only small impact on the value.

Of course I vote that you shoot it!

Unless you can afford 2 (1 to shoot & one to keep as a safe queen) I would advise against leaving it NIB. It is a gun! It's made to be shot - often. :cool

Thanks for the great input guys as it helped to hear others say what I was thinking. Now it's just a matter of putting about 20 firearms and some Arizona acreages up for sale/trade towards other NFA items, in addition to the Vector, I've always wanted. Already have a Mac-11/9 and a Mac-10/45 & 9mm upper but have always dreamed of owning an UZI, WH Thompson, M-16 & a couple more Macs just for grins. Thanks again as I enjoyed reading all your comments and am glad to know that I wasn't the only one that has thought about this topic.

Shoot that thing :) The few extra bucks you might save keeping it NIB amount to nothing when compared to the experience of knowing your Uzi intimately. It'll still be worth $10,000 in the next eight years.

Shoot it or get another one used and put the queen away. Since you've waited your used one will now cost more than the NIB. Now which one to shoot?

I've got two shooters and 5 NIB for later resale. I fired one of the new ones to do some comparison, and I want to be able to take my grandson shooting and have him standing beside me with one of them, both of us dumping a 72rd drum each. I can already see the smile on his face, as he loves that kind of stuff, guns, big noisy machinery, motorcycles, four wheelers, diesel trucks. I intend to give him one when he is of legal age and one to his younger brother.
