Wilson RR. Group bolt. Ill be test firing it soon, comes with a warranty. Anything I should look for or be aware of? I see many of you fully convert your RR's to SMG spec. why? what problems did you have?

You convert an Uzi SMG to full SMG specs so you can use all factory SMG parts in your Uzi. Make sure the bolt is not a Group Industries bolt.

I had John Andrewski convert my IMI RR to full Spec. Could not be happier. It runs 100% and accepts all original UZI SMG parts such as Bolts, barrels, and lowers. Hard to find a "Fully" converted UZI.

why did you decide to convert it?
I understand wanting to use SMG parts. I found Semi barrels, Semi Sear are all available along with a BWE IMI bolt that will clear the ring.

the conversion cost is around $1500 ?? I think that's what I heard from JA

Hello Richard, your IMI clearance bolt is recommended. I see your out of them . The current bolt is a Group bolt which I know is nothing but troubles.

I’m sure you will have issues with it especially it not being able to hit anything at 30yds. Get in contact with
Taylor Pickerall with Buhler Ballistics in Denham Springs. I heard he does fantastic work on Uzis with fast turn around times. Maybe you can have him go through it when it’s in transfer process. Best of luck with it.

Taylor is GNI now. He has his own FFL and Buhler. Ballistics is just doing custom 1911 work. Email him direct at GNI email

Thank you for that correction. Looks like multiple smiths to choose from. Between BWE, Pickerall and Andrewski. They will get it right and working correctly if need be. Good luck on your purchase.

I sent my UZI to Andrewski while it was in NFA Jail. After spending what it costs to get a FA UZI, I wanted it to run perfectly from the get go. I also wanted it to be able to accept all the SMG parts that are available. JA was on the list of recommended UZI Smiths. I contacted him via email and he responded right away. Along the way I had several conversations with him on the phone. The final product is an UZI that is as perfect as can be. Another reason is that an UZI that has the full treatment by Andrewski is going to command a higher resale value because people will trust that they will be buying an UZI that works 100% out of the box. As far as the conversion cost goes I suppose it depends on how much needs to be done to your particular UZI. Mine was quite a bit lower than the $1500 you say. In the long run I am extremely pleased with the work JA did and would highly recommend him.

That $1500 quote includes his upcharge fee for working on one of Plumber Dave's guns... :lol

I’ll be test firing it next week.

JA didn’t give me the $1500 price. A forum member told me.

Gun comes w a function guarantee. I’ll be heavily testing it w/ multiple shooters

It got efile approval in 12 hours and is in the mail to me already.

ive got a BWE clearance bolt coming. Is it best that I just swap it in the gun before testing?

advice taken on the proper grip and short stroke...I typically test with bursts but do like to extreme test it trying to do singles...I have shot an uzi that didn't jam and it seemed like you couldn't make it jam if you tried. No FA is jam proof I know...my expectation is 1-2 jams per 1,000 rounds...often its not close..if you have a bad gun it jams every 30 rounds or less...seems like they either never jam or jam constantly...never in between from my experience

I may bring a rubber band just to make sure that isn't a problem. its over 5 years now waiting for a good uzi (soon to be 6 by the time I get my stamp)...so im pretty excited

Shot my Uzi this morn. Took the bolt out to toss some oil on it and the bolt doesnt have a mark on it, the gun is 100% brand new 1986. Ran Flawless!. Used the Group bolt and mag they shipped it with. Had the BWE bolt in my range bag just in case of issues...ran 300-350 rounds without any issues. I forgot how enjoyable a uzi is. I have no idea why the prices have dropped on these guns. Its so much better than a Mac. No matter how i held it or worked the trigger it would not jam.

^you need to move the target out further than that before you shoot at it.
