Just got my first FA UZI (used) and it won't run. First dumb question does it fire from an open bolt? I rack the bolt locking it open. I insert a mag. I depress the grip safety and pull the trigger. The bolt goes into battery picking up a round and nothing happens. I continue trying to pull the trigger and I hear it intermittently clicking but nothing happens. I've played with the selector switch setting it does the same on semi or full. It it helps it is a group industries uzi. I've pulled it apart, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for. I don't know where to begin.

It didn't come with a manual so I've downloaded the FN manual but it was no help.

:welcome . Is it a reg'd. rec. or a bolt gun? Since you said GI, I'll assume a RR. Is it all original GI? First look at this thread to see if the lower is assembled correctly. Assembling the lower. Yes, it's open bolt. Look and see if the bolt face has the lower lip as depicted in the attached photo. Also inspect the firing pin. Karl.

Are you getting LIGHT primer strikes at all? I assume that the barrel is FULLY seated & ratcheted tightly? You might try one of the new IMI chrome lined smg barrels & replace the bolt with an IMI. Group Industries was infamous for out-of-spec bolts. Is the firing pin protrusion worn? Is the bolt sluggish & is the weapon clean? What ammo are you using? Hard primer issues? Weak recoil springs? ...just a few thoughts!

I looked at the link tha Karl sent me on the lower. I pulled a lot of it apart and reassembled. Like magic it I took it out this morning to test fire and it runs fine! Thanks for the help. I'm still looking for a decent manual on the thing if any know where a pdf of one is.

thanks,
alan

Sounded a lot like the sear was on top of the trigger assembly. You should have 7 zip files in your e-mail now. Hope those help. I doubt I'll be able to make the 50 cal shoot but there will be two other members there, so maybe make a post and meet up with them. David Hineline will be there and 1 other. Try sending David an e-mail, he's kinda irregular around here. I'll see if I can spot the post where the other member told me he was going. I think maybe it was Osprey21, IIRC. Karl.
