I got a new toy. Definitely gonna need some work but I figured it was a good purchase esp for a virgin receiver (M3 Medea SMG Receiver). Gary at Gary's Bunker said he will able to rebuild it for me when the forms are all done.

When done will you have less than $15,000 into it?

Just hope your saving $$ vs buying one already done

A guy on the forums bought a mp40 tube at auction for pretty much what a complete gun goes for. He will be underwater $3-4,000

Hoping your ahead $1,000-2,000

Gonna make a m3 or m3a1

Got it for $11500 thought it was a decent deal. I know the labor to get it running correctly will add some price to it.

$1000 parts kit
$2000-2500 for the build (wild guess)

at $15,000 its about what they sell for.....but yours will be brand new

I see he has 1 more left

mine is a recent build someone bought 3-4 years ago. runs 100%

you will have into it most likely what its worth...not sure if you can turn it into a m3a1 or not...if you can I would

its a fun gun. different. to me its the USA's version of the sten. too bad its not a $6500 sten price

Very nice. There should be no problem making it an A1.

I don't think you got a grand bargain, but its not bad to pay full price and get it made by the smith of your choosing, perfect, new and with a warranty from the smith...some value in that!

There any advantage over the M3 verse MA1? I know the charging handles are a weak link. Is there a regulatory paperwork with the the AFF for changing it from a M3 to a M3 A1?

there is a reason the US switched to the A1...less parts and problems with charging handle...real A1's are worth more, not sure if a Madea is worth more because of it. I think so.

Its a blank shell, id assume you can tweak it into whatever you want. The ejection port isn't even cut out on your gun yet.

have you selected a gun smith yet? You may need to supply the parts kit

I was going to use Gary from Gary's Bunker, he came recommending after M60Joe closed shop. He did some trouble shooting with my NFA A-15 lower and I was satisfied with the work. Plus he said he said he had some spare parts from an dealer sample he had. Do you have a opinion on the indianapolis ordnance new made parts? Are there any high wear parts on a M3 that I should be aware of?

Don’t let these guys tell you what you already know!! Not everyone is looking at the resale of things or does buying one already complete vs building one. If your happy with your purchase then congrats. Piece it together as the funds come in and enjoy the ride, maybe even have it customized to your likings? You will find parts. They are out there. Just don’t get caught up in the “Man you paid to much, You could buy one complete for that money” we don’t know your situation and maybe this was a way to get into a GG? Getting into this hobby for resale might be great now if you wanna flip but if anything ever happens like the bumpstock crap then I’d feel sorry for these clowns that buy a machine gun once a month!!!YMMV

past two cattle-guards, at the end of the gravel r
Parts are difficult to find, may take a year so don’t give up or get frustrated. M3A1 version may have better resale value.

I bought a Medea M3A1 shell in 2015 years ago for about $7500.

Ran a WTB ad on UziTalk for a M3A1 parts kit and somebody had a friend that sold me one.

John Andrewski built it. Had to cut shell and reweld it- gave him fits, was a lot of work and cost.

Get some original GI magazines for it, IMO they function better than the aftermarket mags.

I also had Andy Blaschik build a replica WW2 Bell style silencer for it with modern internals, works great.
