check and see if the selector lever was modified, if the little finger that contacts the blocking bar was removed(along with blocking bar) automatic fire will result. what i can't understand, is how can a semi bolt with no feed lip, fire auto.

I'll yield to RoverDave on the legal stuff. I thought you could use a FA lower on a SA frame if you blocked the FA position on the lower. Maybe whoever wrote that was wrong. I do not think it was on Uzitalk.

bruce, davidl makes a very important point and something you want to check on. Typically a semi bolt will not funtion well in full auto because the lower lip of the bolt face has been removed. That causes the next round to hit the firing pin and jam. Make sure your bolt has not been modified to have a lower lip. That's another thing the ATF does not like in a semi.

RoverDave,

It is Lethal Farce who has the Model B FA problem. I offered the suggestion to check his sear to see if it had been replaced with a FA sear. I don't have any problems (yet?).

Got my new sear in from D&D today. Big difference. The top of the lobes measure .150" vs .175 and .190" plus the "ears" are missing. It looks like a filed down version of sear B from RoverDaves picture. It looks like the problem is solved. Thanks again guys, I couldn't have done it w/o y'all. This is definitely a first rate forum.

I wouldn't enlarge the holes in the receiver. Modifying the receiver to accept full auto parts is a gray area. ATF allows certain modifications and not others so it's best to stay clear of that.

I think enlarging the sear holes would be perfectly fine legally as per one of Bardwell's letters from ATF.
According to this letter, just about anything is fine as long as the rail has been removed and the receiver is registered.

Here is another letter that may be of interest to UZI owners:

Amphibian, I'm not 100% sure, but I thought that the gun in question in this thread is a semi, not a machine gun. In that case, the ATF letter would likely not apply, since the letter was in response to a question about modifying a full auto registered gun that was previously a semi-only.

In fact, the first letter states that the (originally) semi-only lower assembly with machine gun parts in itself constitutes a machinegun, and must be destroyed after being separated from the gun.

BTW, Amphibian,

What is that cool flash hider that you have pictured on the Uzi on your web site? Is it threaded on? Where can I get one?

Are you referring to the one I have in the pic w/ my Rail System?
If so, that is a Smith break that was originally for the M16/AR15. I bored it out for 9mm and threaded it to 9/16x24. It annoyed other shooters because they said that the blast was hitting them if they were next to me.

Hey Guys, Mission accomplished.......... Sort of. Got the new sear in and no more bursts. I am getting many light primer strikes. I did a Uzi Talk search, and am going to check the suggestions from previous posts. Stay tuned for further progress or maybe a good deal on the soon to be for sale Uzi.
