Need a little help Uzi .45 semi build

Hi all, I'm helping a friend build a .45 semi Uzi. The receiver welds are in place and straight. The 2 piece semi bolt travels smooth. The lower snaps in and is a 2 position semi. Mag is a 16 round imi I think. The top cover wil not go on. It seems that front lip does not go down far enough under the front sight so the back will not snap in under the rear sight. Also I think the cover is a full auto type. It has ratcheting teeth in it. I more familiar with full auto Uzis than I am with semis. I assume the buffer needs to be cut to fit around the semi auto rail inside the reciever. Am I missing anything else? The kit had some FA 9mm parts which I separated out and gave back to him.

You need to remove the pawl(spelling?) and spring from the top cover and then put the cocking lever back together. If I remember correctly, you cannot put the top cover on without performing this operation. There is a tutorial here or on the internet how to do it. The buffer on the FA spring needs removed. Aviation snips work very well for this.

What receiver are you using? Can you share a picture of where the interference is? The great thing with top covers, they are cheap but some bending may be required.

If you are using one of the Group Industries receiver shells you will need to file down behind the front sight ears.
These receiver shells are out of spec and need work to function properly.
