Thanks guys. Ran a SMG match with it this past weekend and put about 500 rounds through it and it was great.

Picture below comparing to a couple of my MK9K's.
Left: circa 2001 design.
Middle: actually a clone that has the ported area beefed up. I blew up an MK9K with a full auto Micro UZI. It broke right where the ports are of the inner tube. Later, I see that Gemtech made that area thicker like my clone.
The area where it is ported is also threaded so it thinner there.

The original MK9K, clone and the current Phoenix by GSL are all using an aluminum inner and outer tube, aluminum blast baffle while the rest of the baffles are SS.

With my custom can, the baffles and expansion ported area are all 17-4 SS and threaded. The ported area isn't threaded, has smaller holes and again 17-4 SS so I have a lot of confidence there won't be a failure.

You can also see in this pic that he made the threaded area for the Bixler 3 lug mount too short compared to the middle one and I had to send it back to get re-made.

This pictures shows the internals, again everything is threaded so it eliminates the need for an inner tube which the MK9K needs.
Note the front end cap is machined for that big allen wrench and the rear mount has flats to put in a vise. The inner core being all 17-4 SS allows me to just dump it in a heated ultrasonic tank.

Mods...maybe I should have posted this in the suppressor section but initially posted here since the UZI was a primary host. I use the Gemtech UZI mount as well as the 3 lug mounts.

Very nice cans. I also have a mk9k and love it. Your custom can is impressive; may I ask how much did it cost you

Looks like an awesome set up. Good luck finding a cover for it. I have an AWC MK9 that’s 2” round and no one makes a cover for it. The biggest ones they make are 1.5 or 1.7 I am assuming yours is 2 inches round.

I think the Bowers silicone covers are similar in size?

It was like $850 but I provided the Bixler nut that you see pictured. He did everything else. So it will vary depending on what you want done.

I got a Gemtech Mk9k on Amphibian's recommendation and have been very satisfied with it.
Does anybody know if they still have the UZI Barrel Nut adaptors? I shoot mine with a 3 lug and that seems to work very well, but I have a short FBI Barrel and the Barrel Nut would probably be a more solid mount. What length does the short barrel need to be to use the barrel nut mount

When I finally lead up & kill the internals on my suppressor is it possible to retrofit the unit with SS Baffles and make it user serviceable? Btw, what is a Bixler 3 lug & how does it differ from a regular HK 3 lug.

I've got a bunch of 3-lug 9mm cans, but my MK9K gets way way more use than anything else.
I've never opened/cleaned it except when the removable 3-lug mount is fouled.

I'm seriously considering this SS core upgrade on it so I can clean it in my ultrasonic tank

What is the advantage of the Bixler 3-lug mount over the MK9K 3-lug?

I bought my MK9k on Amphibian's recommendation. It was my favorite SMG can. I also took his recommendation and had another Ti 2" can turned into the CT9KS.

I really like this CT9KS. I look forward to more testing and posting videos.

Check out this thread: http://www.uzitalk.com/forums/showthread.php?92307-Curtis-Tactical-s-new-CT9KS-coaxial-suppressor

I liked my first custom can so much I sent in one of my MK9K's to get chopped and new core built so I have two. I will most likely leave one setup with the UZI barrel nut mount and the other with the Bixler mount.

The Bixler mount doesn't use any springs and don't see how it can really get fouled. This design has no play.

Check out the thread above and see the great idea Joe at Curtis Tactical had to make the 3 lug mount a direct thread with a different nut.

Yes, that is my picture and last post in that thread:
Below is a picture I took years ago showing the difference. The Bixler mount addresses the concerns mentioned in the video as it locks up solid with no wobble you get with the Latka mount, no moving parts, no o-rings to melt and I believe stronger. I also have one of the old Bixler SCRC mounts where the nut is made from steel. Downside is slower to install/remove and need access to the rear which is not an issue on the MP5 but if you want to tuck the can in a rail on an AR will be an issue.

I think some may say that the Latka mount is more idiot proof, however there have been many posts where people launch 3 lug cans downrange. I think with either mount, you need to give the can a tug to make sure it is secured properly. For the Bixler mount, I hold the can by the nut, clear the lugs, rotate and then pull forward so I can feel the lugs engage the recesses of the nut. While keeping forward tension on the nut, I tighten down on the rear mount till snug. Then a final forward tug to confirm it is mounted correctly. Again, takes more time than a spring loaded Latka mount but I think it is worth it being more solid with no concern of wearing out any parts or fouling issues.

Regarding the issue of wanting to tuck it into a rail, you just need to to access part of the nut.
Here is my latest setup for the CMMG RDB.

This is an 8" barrel and 8" rail.

So I can still tuck it in the rail slightly. BTW, the two 3 lug mounts in the middle of my first picture are to big to fit in this narrow rail.

Here are a few pics of my MK-9K w/Bixler mount in detail:

(Notice how nicely it mates to an MP5 3-lug barrel tip.)

FWIW -

Curtis Tactical is running a 20% off special on new cans until end of March 2020...

o New CT9KS with all optional mounts (bixler+direct-thread) is $800 with discount

Off topic if anyone knows who make a decent cover for a AWC MK9 that’s not $$$$ please let me know. There’s a lot covers out there for suppressors that are 1” to 1.75 round but not so much for 2” suppressor.
