Was looking through some totes in storage and came across these mags. These are CMP M11/9 mags.
Sorry, the definition is a bit blurry. Had to shrink pic to attach and lost some definition

And these M11/9 mags. The one on the left is obviously a short factory zytel.
I do not know the maker of the other 3

These are Madsen mags that were converted for the M11/9 or single feed M10/9 by CS metalwerkes.

Here’s a write up on those CMP M11/9 mags from machine guns news, 1993

They were the old CMP M10/9 mags, the ones that were sold by RPB as the “factory Ingram magazines”. They took the old m10/9 bodies and squeezed them down to single feed with a cheap aluminum follower. The mag stops on the side only line up correct to the M10 magwell, they are about 1/2 to 1in too low on the M11/9.

Those mags don’t work great and always have lock up issues, the mag catch notch on the spine often has to be filed slightly for them to lock into a lot of M11/9s

Yeah those are m9 mags that have been modified with that plate welded to the spine for use in an M11/9. Those mags are generally very inexpensive and not really too desirable, likely because they look kinda ghetto, but they do work ok from what I’ve gathered.

Thanks, I have gained a lot of experience with the various different types of magazines from buying and selling over the last few years. It also doesn’t hurt to collect vintage shotgun news issues and machine gun news etc, lots of great info in those old publications.

Since I have started collecting the old 1980s SGN back issues (they are actually quite hard to come by) I have solved a lot of what were previously considered mysteries when it comes to this stuff.

Due to the age of these parts and accessories, shotgun news is often the only source of information. MAC stuff was never really well documented until the MACMAN book came out and provided a resource for a lot of this info, but there is also a lot of stuff, mostly related to accessories, that didn’t make its way into the book.

I think there is probably enough new info that has been discovered since the book, particularly in regards to the parts and accessories, that a whole new book could be published on that topic alone. For example, I do not believe those steel CMP M11/9 magazines are mentioned in the MACMAN book.

The book is great, it’s the Bible for this stuff as far as I’m concerned, but with the amount of accessories that were sold by RPB, SWD, rhino, Specialized weapons, Euclid sales etc etc it would take an entire book dedicated solely to that subject alone to thoroughly document everything.

I had a bunch of the converted Madsen mags at one time. Sold them to Vegas SMG.
I personally haven’t had much luck with those, in my experience they wobble like crazy. I spoke to John of CS metalwerks fairly recently about these mags and apparently they had started shimming them to combat the wobble, I guess I’ve only had the earlier examples that still had that issue.

I still await your book!

Didn't they work something for replacing the plastic ones? I remember that they did a repair kit for plastic magazines and it was just the steel magazine itself without any guts stuff in it. Due to the AWB.

I remember them at the SOF and KC shows.

Magazine “repair parts kits” have been sold since the AWB to circumvent federal and state capacity restrictions. Often times it’s just the complete magazine with all internals being sold in a disassembled “kit” form. Some retailers, like USMG, offer the complete magazines with a plastic limiter installed for ban states. This is technically not enough to make the mags legal, as they have to be reduced capacity in a way that’s permanent, has to be pinned/welded etc, but parts are just parts.. so the rebuild kits are not restricted unless you assemble them into a completed magazine as far as I know. I’m sure there is an argument for “constructive intent” but I don’t know of any instance of anyone being charged with “constructive intent” for magazine possession.

I sell the old STL steel feedlip rebuild kits for the zytel M11/9 magazine. They are a set of 2 small steel inserts that can be glued to the feedlips and they significantly increase the lifespan and reliability of the zytel mags, but I don’t think that’s what you are referring to here.
