I still have stock tubes in stock. they save a lot of weight over the stock folding knuckle.

Hello! Its been awhile. I was wondering if there are any Galil buffer tubes that would accept a pistol brace, or if that is something have to get custom made.

This is an AK man. All you would have to do is change out the stock at the hinge for a pistol brace. The new ace pistol braces would work,, but the pistol receivers are probably not going to have the stock hole for it unless it's an ACE receiver.

It was either buffer tube or stock tube. Either case, the tube is the thing that I'd need.

Are you meaning an Arm Brace on a Rifle?
1) Why?
2) If yes, double check that your Overall Length is more than 26"
(I'm almost positive the barrel and receiver are, but it never hurts to be sure)

Ok, not sure what you are looking to do, but this is the folding stock base hinge. that pins to the receiver

This is the hinge that mounts to the stock tubes & pins to the folding stock base.

Hello, I'm trying to get in touch with Jeff aka Tennessee Galil, but I'm not sure if he is on this site or has a website of his own. I'd like to ask if he is able to make a failed top cover for me. Would someone be able to let me know how I can contact him?

Looks nice, but I must ask why you installed the Hand Stop backwards?

He's on here. He's always responded to my messages quickly, clearly, and courteously.
ETA: His "handle" here is Tenngalil.

Hello again,

I'm in the process of getting a rail mounted to a dust cover and have run into an issue. The rail I got is very thin and will ultimately cause the charging handle to ram into the rds mount I intend to use. Does anyone have any scope mounts that would allow the charging handle to pass by uninterrupted, or should I get a thicker rail?

The red dot is a strikefire 2 from vortex

Go with an AK charging handle / bolt carrier. That keeps from hitting the rail if I am reading your question correctly.

anything new regarding mounting a red dot on a Galil?

There are a few rail systems out there (FAB) that cost a few $$s, or you can see if anyone has a railed gas tube. That was a good choice for mounting one. Otherwise get someone to tack weld a rail to the top cover.

Ahhh so back in the day I tac'ed out my Golani. I thought it looked great! Went to the gun range to fire it and everyone at the range would say "nice AK". So I spent more time having to explain to them it was a well dressed Galil :( Boy was I disappointed. Went home and stripped off all the confetti from my Golani. A few weeks later went to the range and my Golani was a superstar and everyone asked "what type of rifle is that?" or asked to shoot it because they recognized it to be a Galil/Golani. The Galil already is a heavy gun, when you put rails, scope, light and forward grips etc.. it becomes a really, really heavy rifle. I would not want to lug that thing around for a extended amount of time. Just my 2 cents. Great thread guys nice to see the interest in the Galil is alive. Lou

The Galil definitely is heavier than it should be, but the biggest problem if you fit optics, is balance. I purchased one of those UTG rail kits that replace the handguard not long after I picked up my LM5 a few years ago. I fitted a scope with an illuminated reticle and a red dot. Took it to the range once and got rid of the rail afterwards. I realized that even with the optic being over the rear dustcover, all that combined weight is set at the front of the rifle. Those UTG handguards weigh 700 grams. Add a semi-decent optic, and that's another 250 grams. That's an extra 2lbs added right to the front of your rifle.

If you spread the weight evenly across the rifle or more to the rear, it isn't nearly as tiring. Getting an adjustable stock also definitely helps. I've been running my rifle with the prototype rail for a few months now and it works very well. I do plan on getting myself a vertical foregrip. That does feel more natural.

Although the Galil/Golani is indeed heavy, I find myself grabbing mine when simply strolling (stumbling) around the property more than anything else in my collection, usually with a 35 rd Mag in the gun and 3 more in a pouch on my belt. Not sure why, but it just feels better than an AK, M4, AR10, Mini Draco, or Mossberg 500.
If I'm at my parent's place (much more open) I prefer my M96 Swedish Mauser, mostly because I had it when I lived there and it brings back good memories.

So got a problem that's been a thorn in my side for awhile and hopefully someone might be able to help me out. It appears that my firing pin is about to break, again. Last time it was the rebound spring in the bold causing the tip to break, which i think is still the case But before I go breaking stuff, I wanted to see if anyone had similar issues in the past using after market rebound springs and if they had found away to fix it, or if I should just buy a new bolt. Or if I should ask someone like Tennessee Galil for help
