I have an itch for another UZI, and have located a Model A, I wish I had the exact serial number but I think it was close to SA2??214 I think. A few things were odd so I figured I would ask. The gun looks unfired or close too. No marks on the feed ramp, A few small wear marks on the top of the bolt but looks like its just from handling and charging. It also has the sling swivel that only turns 90 degrees.

A few odd things:

1. It is in a plastic hard case with slot for the model B sight tool {no Tool}.
2. I could not find any serial number on the barrel.
3. There was some missing finish on the muzzle end of the barrel.
4. It has the original manual w/ serial number, and there is a sticker inside the plastic case with the serial number but looks like the sticker might have been pealed off and put in the plastic case. Not a big deal and I only ask because I find it curious because my past Model A guns came in a cardboard and foam box.

So I guess I am wondering if this is all original or might it be pieced together from different years etc etc.. Any input from the UZI experts would be greatly appreciated. Maybe even from the guy who " Wrote the book on UZI" Hint Hint @ Roverdave....

Sure, I'd be glad to help. The model A never came in the plastic cases. The cases weren't designed until they were well into the model B's. The serial number label could have easily been moved from the original cardboard/Styrofoam box to the plastic case. That's unfortunate from a collector standpoint, but from a shooter standpoint it's fine because the plastic case is handier.

If the barrel doesn't have the last three digits of the serial number out by the muzzle, then it's not original to the gun. Hard to say what happened. My guess is that at some time, someone was playing around with a short barrel, or they kept the dummy barrel in the gun and lost the original barrel. Then they found a replacement barrel sometime later to make it a legal shooter again. It's still a great gun, just worth a little less because it doesn't have the original barrel.

Thank you Roverdave you confirmed what I suspected. It would be a great gun but I feel the seller wants collector money.

Very possible I put an extra X in the serial number. But I am pretty sure it began with the two and ended in the last three digits 214. Thank you for the help I do appreciate it
