The Mk 8 Sterling is reported to have only been made in very small numbers - the exact number isnt clear to me, but I have read that it was somewhere between 70 and 84.

I have also been reading that a US company started to manufacture Mk 8 Sterling for the US market, but I dont have any information about how these were made, what aspects are the same / different and what are the serial markings.

Can anyone shed any light on the subject or direct me to someone who knows?S

Where did you read that? Can you post a link please?

Some people are doing the paperwork and paying the tax to replace their Mk6 barrels with Mk4 barrels. That makes the gun essentially a Mk8. Most are the Wise Lite Arms copy of the Mk6. They were made from Mk4 parts kits. The original Sterling Mk4 marking are on the magazine housing. They are not considered the legal serial number, manufacturer, etc. The Wise Lite Arms info, serial, etc, is on the left side of the receiver tube. The receiver is the control part here.
