Hello to the board..

Came across a mini Uzi with a closed bolt conversion. Other than an increase ROF are these more desirable than a rr or open bolt?

Thanks and stay safe

I don’t have any experience with the Mini CB system. But I will say the full sized Uzi in CB is silly fast. Enough so that reliability in my gun is questionable.

But if you’re looking for a Mini and the price is in the ballpark, I’d get it and then source the open bolt parts. And then you’ll still have the closed bolt parts for when you want insane fast speeds for giggles.

RR is generally the most desirable. Then you can run it in any configuration you want. Registered open bolt would be the next most resizable, and registered closed bolt the last. They are way too fast to shoot regularly. They are fun for occasional blasting.

I generally agree RR is the best way to go for an UZI (fwiw, I own only RRs).
However, if you want BOTH a mini and a micro, and don't want to shell out for two RRs,
you can achieve both configs with the same registered micro bolt.
In this case, I would get an open bolt as the closed bolt conversions are just stupid fast
(and the mini & micro are already crazy fast running open bolt).
Be aware closed bolts can be so fast that it will outrun some magazines....

I've got a micro RR with both open and closed bolts.
I never run the closed bolt.

Hi Peter O,

I've run the CB mini. The gun I used had no provision to hold the bolt open for inserting the magazine. It makes for forceful magazine changes or the use of 3 hands to insert the magazine.

Enjoy,

When y'all say fast how fast are we talking?

I tried to clock my full size CB. It was apparently too fast for my timer to accurately pick up. One time I got 1500 rpm, and the next mag was 2500 rpm. So I’m going to split the difference and say it was somewhere around 2000.

Oh yeah!!! Sounds like soooo much fun.

I own closed and open bolt minis ...the closed runs fast and 100%. The open a bit less but acceptable.
but i prefer my closed bolt micro RR. talk about fast

I have a registered bolt, closed bolt mini. It has always been 100% reliable for me, but is crazy fast. I never clocked it, but I would guess in the 1800 RPM range. A lot of fun, but forget about trying to pull singles or doubles. i don't shoot it that often because of the high cyclic rate, but when you feel the need for speed there is noting quite like it. I have a close bolt conversion for my full size RR, but have never installed it. Perhaps one of these days.
