Hello all,

Does anyone know if the uzi pistols ever came with a bayonet lug located just before the trigger guard like on the new gen micros? If not, Does anyone think it would be possible to attach a bayo lug before the trigger guard like the new gen micros?

Thank You.

No, the pistols never came with a bayonet lug like the Micros. The space is there so one could be welded on without any problem. You'd have to find a lug. Best bet would be to find someone with a parts kit that has the front part of the receiver with it and cut off the old lug.

Here's what the Micro lug looks like:

I don't think so. I personally have never seen an Uzi pistol with the bayo lug like the new MICRO's have.
I am waiting on a RR Uzi Pistol conversion to be transferred to me. I plan on making mine identical to a factory MICRO including the bayo lug. I spoke to Rex at Vector about this and he did tell me that they did weld a bayo lug to a Uzi pistol for a customer. He said it was not totally factory correct in the way it was welded on. I think they welded a plate to the bayo lug then welded the plate to the receiver. I'm not sure how that differs from a factory Micro. I guess I'll be learning more when my RR Uzi pistol gets transferred to me.

Do you have an Uzi pistol conversion too?
Maybe we can compare notes.

What is an Uzi Pistol conversion?

What I meant was an Uzi Pistol that has been converted to full auto and registered with the ATF of course. In my case that is what I'm getting.

No, I do not have an Uzi Pistol that has been converted to fire FULL - AUTO. I don't even have an uzi pistol. I just like inquiring about the Micro/Pistol, becuase In my opinion, I think think are intresting little weapons. ok, Another question within a question. Is purchasing an "Uzi Pistol" just like pruchasing a regular handgun? or is there a certain procedure to purchasing an uzi pistol?

Thanks.

Just like a regular handgun for a semi, NON converted Uzi Pistol.

Ok Now I am really curious. (Several more questions within a question) Where do you send your uzi pistol for an "Uzi Pistol Conversion"? also what is the difference between a "POST BAN" Uzi Pistol and "PRE-BAN" Uzi Pistol? (Other than the fact that one came out after the ban i guess) and the last question, What is the difference between all the different uzi pistols that were made or imported in by different companies. Like Springfield Armory, Vector Arms, IMI, and such? I know I have a lot of questions, But I know you guys can answer them and thats what makes the uzi forums the best!

Thanks

UZI 4 U, all the UZI Pistols are the same. There's no pre-ban and post-ban configurations. IMI is the only company I know of that made the Pistol and Action Arms the only one I know of that imported the pistol. Note that a pistol and a Micro are different. The Pistol is a semi-auto version of the Micro. The Micro is a full auto title II weapon.

There are some differences between the pistol and the Micro (other than being full auto.) The most noticeable is that the Micro has a folding stock and a bayonet lug. All of the Micro's in the US are dealer samples. Because of that, prior to 1986 some people registered pistols as machine guns and converted them to full auto. Once it was a registered machine gun, you are free to do whatever conversion you want - like adding the stock and bayonet lug. That's the conversion amphibian is talking about. Not a pre-ban/post-ban conversion. Hope that helps.

Thank you. This intellegence has helped me greatly. Much appreciated Amphibian & Rover Dave. There are just two more questions that remain unanswered.

1. Are there any side hip holsters for the uzi pistol?

2 Can you buy those scope rings that come with an uzi pistol scope mount seperately? They look like those high seated see thru - type scope rings. The kind where you bolt them to a mount.

Thanks ( again):)

Yes, there are/have been hip holsters made for the UZI pistol. Frontline (of Israel) made UZI Pistol holsters. I don't know if anyone is importing them any more. They look like this:

It's the model 5502 as you can see from the picture. The only one I've seen is the one I own. It's an okay holster. Nicely form fitted but not very thick leather.

Another option is to order one from Holsters International in England. Paul Evers is an excellent custom holster manufacturer and I know he has done an UZI Pistol holster for one or two of our members. You can contact him at holstersintl@fsbdial.co.uk. I have one of his shoulder rigs for my Mini UZI and it's great.

I don't think you can buy the pistol scope rings separately. They are fairly unique and I don't know if you'd have much luck finding them. You'd be best off buying the whole setup with the base.

In addition to what RoverDave said, the MICRO also has a sling swivel on the left front sight ear. I plan on using a 3 point sling with my MICRO once it is all done.

I got one of the scope mounts with my Pistol that I'm sure I'll never use.

I've already got one of my Docter mounts ready to go for my toy when I get it.

RoverDave,
I think Uzi4U may be referring to the Uzi Pistol imported by Springfield armory that is on gunbroker now.

Here is a pic below:

This Springfield Armpry thing is interesting. Anyone know the story behind it?

Judging by the way they milled out the receiver to stamp their name, it looks like they might have been initially stamped Action Arms and then were miled out and restamped. It reminds me of the way Action Arms took some of the Model 45 receivers and milled them out and restamped them Model 41. If they were originally Actions Arms marked, then when/why did Springfield get them?

Action Arms was in business the entire time the UZI pistol was imported into the US so you would think they would be the sole importer. I do know that by 1991, Action Arms had sold all of the UZI Pistols they had and that no more were sitting on shelves at the distributors. The Pistol wasn't banned from import until 1993 but AA refused to import any more due to fear of pending legislation. I suppose it's possible that a deal was cut with Springfield Armory during that time to import some of them.

Lug

My Question is what was Israeli military's intention for puting a bayonet lug on a pistol sized firearm. I doubt it was intended for a bayonet since it would seem impossible to fit a bayonet on the uzi pistol even with the lug attatched. Was it made as an accesory rail?

Yes, I think it was for an accessory rail. It's a nice position for mounting lights or lasers.
