There has been a lot of talk about whether the MPi-69 and the MPK are really transferrable. Supposedly the MPK variant wasn't made until 1971 and the MPi was made starting in 1969. This places both guns post the 1968 registration date. Of course they could be rewelds. It would be interesting to see a FOIA on these two guns. I hope for the buyers that they are transferrable and aren't pre May saplles.

Well a number of my MGs just went up in value.

I know a dealer a few years back that bid on a MG42 post sample on one of those long running auction sites. He won it for $4000 and when the the paperwork came back it was a transferable, then worth $40,000.

I am actively looking for a C&R Swedish K. I prefer the M45B. Have been for 7 years. I know of a few but none come up for sale. Someday I hope to find one, always looking for a lead...

Years ago I was shooting with Joe Moody (the previous owner) and he let me shoot this very Steyr MPi-69. The firearm is immaculate and doesn't display any indication of being re-welded. I don't know the story behind it, but I think there may have been some pre-production MPi-69's, and this one managed to make it into the U.S. prior to 1968. Joe's collection is phenomenal and I would love to see FOIA's on all of his firearms!

There's 0 chance that either of those were imported before the GCA of 1968. There may be some other way they were legally (or mistakenly) registered but it wasn't before the cutoff.

The MPK has "Made in Germany, Interarms, Alexandria VA" stamped on the side of it and a 1971 date code, someone is gonna be real raw when the ATF catches up to that pre sample. 1048 Galil 7.62 MR338 they adjusted the realized price down from 90k to 49.2k. The MPI-69 is marked L.E.S Skoki, ILL on the top so same situation there.

I tried to warn them but they typed out this 11 paragraph email on basically why I was wrong.
