almost 11 months...

swapped out the springs to help the trigger pull

wow what a crappy trigger....do they smooth out with use? how many rounds?

ive oiled the hell out of all the moving parts as you can feel plastic moving on plastic...do a firm, sharp pull and its not horrible...do a slow, target shooting style pull and you can feel grit and plastic parts moving....

i think the gun is very well designed over all...really innovative....but i cant figure out why they chose the trigger they chose....so much going on inside that little gun just to move a trigger and set off a striker.

ive got 100-150 rounds through it while it was in NFA jail...so its still tight and new feeling..

maxim 9...9mm :)

the silencerco handgun

many of the trigger parts are plastic....the gun seems so well made when you see its development and take the slide off...so many neat/smart things....then you pull the trigger

im a huge glock fan...i love plastic guns...i love glock triggers....yet this plastic trigger is high school science project bad

they should have hired keltec to make their trigger...it would be 10x better.

Oh.. right- I didn’t know if the .45 has a different nomenclature- apparently so! Sounds like a good after market update if slipping past metal detectors isn’t necessary.

Don’t think they make it in 45 unless it’s new

Figured some of it out

It has a trigger safety like a Glock. This safety rubs the frame. I think it’s how it works. Pull the trigger at the very bottom and it’s decent. Still feels cheap as hell but now smooth

A nice steel target trigger would make this gun much better. Maybe someone will make an aftermarket trigger

I may have misread that somewhere, that seems the most likely possibility.

We get it already you don't like the trigger there's a reason those engineers at silencerco that make 100 plus Grand A year had to use that trigger ....they don't need some gun forum know-it-allMonday morning quarterbacking their decisions .....and of course bitching about it in every post doesn't help

Speaking of “triggered” ...do you work there or something?

talked with the guy who makes the after market spring to help the trigger..he also said the gun was poorly engineered.....

what is the reason the trigger had to be made as it was? why did $100,000 engineers make junk while keltec $50,000 engineers make a decent trigger?

I don’t think I’ve shot it since the week I got the stamp. I dislike it. Strongly regret buying it

Even for a bargain price w free can it’s still over priced

The gun looks cool and it is probably the most silent handgun. There isn’t anything else positive I can say about it

I'm very happy with mine. Sure beats running around a match with a muzzle can on any other 9mm handgun.

That said, I've had two issues with mine.
1. Like the OP, trigger needs help but I just put my finger low on the trigger and it isn't that bad to me...but I have to remember to put my finger there instead of where it naturally ends up.
2. It has issues with light primer strikes. Federal primers are the most sensitive and I reload so I use them exclusively for the Maxim 9. Yeah it sucks to have to make 'special' rounds for the Maxim 9.

Sure it would be great not to have those two issues but for me there is nothing else like it and as long as I do those two work arounds, it works fantastic for me.

Now, the new 'non-NFA' 'Maxim 9 has an improved trigger which I hope resolves both of these issues:

Oh and one the two samples they had us try, they both had improved triggers. Hopefully that will make it into the production versions

The improved trigger is also mentioned in this youtube video:

I was thinking whenever the new non-NFA makes it out in the wild, to contact Silencero about getting the new trigger or hoping they will have some kind of trigger exchange program.

Yes light primer strikes issues too!!

I use Imi
Ppu won’t work

The gun is very poorly designed. Trigger and striker.

They should have bought the rights to the trigger/ striker from Glock or s&w.

It does something’s right. But the trigger and striker is what makes a gun good or bad. Their trigger gets a F

It works. It’s better than that 1970 HK staple gun but not by much

Amphibian. How do you like the new version compared to the old one ??

They stopped making the maxim 9 - 6/9 months ago ? Notice they are still everywhere and cheap still.

I would be very happy if they have a trigger exchange. But their service seems so poor regarding the free silencer program I have 0 faith on it. I’d be afraid to send my gun into them.

I think you're pretty harsh on it. As mentioned, I don't think its that bad. Again, as long as I place my trigger finger a little low and use Federal primers, mine runs 100% and it is very accurate and has a surprisingly nice balance despite its appearances.

I haven't tried the new version, just posting what I've seen about the new non-NFA Maxim having an improved trigger.

Where did you hear they stopped making the Maxim 9's? I haven't seen that. I haven't seen them cheap either. I like mine so much, I was thinking about picking up another one but haven't seen them for the same price I paid for mine.

I'm in no rush to get my trigger fixed, so I figure whenever they come out with the non-NFA Maxim, I'll reach out to them to possibly see if I can just buy a whole new trigger assembly. Don't really want to send my whole gun in either.

9 months ago some websites said discontinued on them. I assumed they were done and then saw the new model being tested.

Prices are $950 when I did a quick look. Best I saw 12 months ago was $850

Discontinued, and prices were really low due to the Accusport bankruptcy NFA sell off and then SiCo's distributors blew out their remaining inventory since it was almost impossible to sell them.
