Max11a1/9 vs MP5

I have both

Went to farm this weekend and shot both extensively

The max11a1/9 To me shoots much better and easier to hold on target than the mp5

Now it shoots a little faster, but I’ve found 124gr lawman or cci blazer brass is a nice round.

Just one opinion. I really was impressed. Both suppressed.

I need to try my cfw bolt w adapter next

i agree the M11 is more easy to control then the MP5
i also found the grease gun to be the same vs the Thompson

The m11/9 with any CFW bolt is better than any mp5 variant in terms of controllability full auto. I’m not willing to admit that for the baby mac.I own all the macs and all the mp5 variants, what has been winning with me over lately is magazines. VegasSMG gave me a bunch of ole Suomi clips and I modified a plunger to work with mp5 mags. I can load those up on trays crazy fast and out at the range load/shoot 1000 rounds in 20 minutes. I’m a volume shooter.

The m11/9 with his bolt, doesn’t have an equal compared to controllability though. Shit I went 60,000 rounds without cleaning mine. Blew mine up, pressed it back together with a shop press and rewelded. I wouldn’t be able to do that with a mp5

Interesting comparison. I recently sold a pre-May MP-5. Have an M-11 with the Max 31 MkII upper. Run it with 2 VBS buffers. When running drums or coffin mags, I occasionally notice a bit of a hiccup in the cyclic rate....not a consistent smooth cadence. Perhaps it’s ammo related, but there none the less. The MP-5, well, it’s an MP-5....what more can you say. Many consider it to be the holy grail of SMG’s because it’s “HK”. While it was nice, after a mag or two, it just got boring to me. Cyclic rate is on the fast side, and like other full auto HK’s, a pain in the ass to clean. Now my go to SMG is my Swedish K. Original pre-May sample and an absolute dream to shoot! Run it with the coffin mags, and between the ideal cyclic rate, controllability along with ergonomics, it is a tack driver!

I noticed that my aluminum Max31K and Max31A MKII has an irregular ROF rhythm regardless of ammo too. My steel Max-11 and steel Max 31A MKI are metronomes. I wonder what causes the aluminum uppers to perform that way?

I wonder if the upper is flexing and slightly binding the bolt or shift the drum position relative to the bolt. Anyone have a super slow speed camera?

What is the weight comparison?

The max is lighter. I haven’t weighed them though. It’s certainly smaller and more compact.

The cyclical rate is faster but I can use 124gr lawman that is subsonic to mitigate that a bit.

The mp5 is more intuitive to have to a novice bc it’s closed bolt, but neither has a bolt hold open feature.

Im just saying I took time to appreciate the max this time. I was more accurate w it but I had a red dot on it. It didn’t seem to muzzle rise as much either as I filmed a friend on both. Both were suppressed.
