MAX-31 with Sten & Beta-C Mags

Been playing today. In addition to being able to use 50rd coffin and 70rd drums I can now use 30rd Sten and 100rd Beta's in my MAX-31. Now I need a second job so I can feed the Beta.

Yes the dummy rounds are loose, at least for now. Of course the linked ones that come in the Beta will not work. I wonder if the ones in the new Glock towers will work? The can was pretty hot! I left the dummy round in the chamber while I turned off the video camera and it melted. Guess I will have to turn some out of aluminum.

They are 32 rounds. I usually put 30 in them.

I have a Zytel mag that I used as a prototype to convert. The feedlips are too wide to fit. I also look into doing a RO mag.

This was the easy mag to convert. I silver soldered a piece of steel to the back of the mag and then milled it so it would lock into the upper. You can see what it looked like before I soldered it to the mag on the left. You can see it soldered and milled on the mag in the middle. Basically you want it to look like the coffin mag on the right. The front to back size of the Sten mag is a perfect fit in the MAX31. Just make sure when you mill (or file) the piece you soldered to the mag that it does not hold the mag to high or it will rub the bottom of the bolt.

The Beta tower is made from a converted Sten mag (see above). The lower half is cutoff and the upper half is welded to three pieces of steel that are machined to match the bottom of a factory Beta mag.

oh man that looks very easy to hang on to. I thought the beta would get in the way of the front grip. I am still on wait list for my MAX 31 but do you have plans to sell a few of them? I have zero skills at building anything but am willing to pay thoes that do.

I don't know. I would like to sell some of them but I don't really have the time or the ability to mass produce them. I am sure there are already those who have seen this thread who are seeing dollar signs. I put it out there so I guess anyone can take it and run but I really would like to see Richard offer these as an option for his MAX31.

LOL, he was the first person I emailed when I seen this. I asked if he was gonna make a mag well for the beta. His words were we do not have that planned for now. he also said some one (you) just did a conversion on the mac 10 fourm.
as i said I do not have my Max 31 yet dont even know when my number is up but I will buy 1 from ya of coarse depending on price.

XxLT250RxX....... Thanks for the Sten mag idea! I did a monkey see, monkey do and built one for my Max-31. Piece of cake and runs 100%. Now I can crank out a few more. It's sure nice to have the option to run 30 rounders.
