I’ve enjoyed shooting my MAX-11 uppers for years and didn’t feel particularly motivated to spring for the MAX-31. But with the cost of ammo so high, I knew I could sell some of mine and use the proceeds to buy a MAX-31 at no net cost to myself. So I did. Here is my unboxing and test firing video:

I’m sure it annoys the other shooters at the range to see me squandering such large amounts of ammo. I’m just glad I stocked up before Walmart stopped selling it.

I also enjoy making displays of conspicuous consumption of ammo with my Max 31 with 71 round mag dumps and stock upper with 50 round sticks when at the public range. I'm still working on primers I bought at $28.00/1000 and powder at $140.00/8 lb jug. My inventory will someday be depleted, but for now I have enough to get by for another year or 2.

Your displays of conspicuous consumption could be improved only if you used genuine Coke or Pepsi soda jugs instead of the generic brand:)

Primers. I remember those! I've loaded all mine waiting for ammo prices to go back to sanity.

Nice video Eric!

I had an OOB and blew out a drum on Richard's prototype.

Vegas SMG told me I needed a Max-31 and I resisted for a while. The Max-31 is VERY flat shooting and it is my favorite open bolt subgun.

The Max 31 is a nice piece of kit for sure! I love mine. Very flat shooting and a lot more accurate than expected. On semi Itll ring 2/3 IPSC targets offhand at 180 yards all day long.

Very True! Love my MAX-10/31as well for the same reasons, + the awesome Finn 72 rd drum mag... again, can't wait for the 10/15!

I mentioned in the video that I was doing a test of the Chinese imitation ACOG on my MAX-31. I tested the imitations quite extensively and concluded that I wouldn't use them on either my AR-15s or MAX-11/15, mainly because the reticles are not calibrated for anything and they failed the water resistance test badly. But I am keeping one on my MAX-31 for the time being. I like it pretty well on that platform as long as it doesn't rain. Here's my fairly extensive review of the fake ACOGs if anyone is interested:
