Looking at a cobra mac 11 that needs some repairs is there anyone you would recommend? Rear of lower needs welded, rear sight plate and possible
refinish.

I was going to ship him mine for a refinish. Seems that the only way a regular person can ship a machine gun is Fed Ex. I went to Fed Ex, and was told the SOT/FFL has to send a prepaid shipping label to me. From the limited communication I had with Sam, he didn't strike me as someone who would be willing to do that. So I guess I'll have to have a SOT/FFL here ship it.

FWIW, I used Sam as well and shipped mine in a harbor freight hard case..

The limitations for mailing a firearm is on concealable Firearms. Long guns are not considered "concealable". If you mailed your machinegun with a 16" barrel and a stock, that would not be considered concealable. Registered Mail is by far the most cost-effective way to ship a machinegun, as commercial carriers must ship overnight.

Well bingo -- we're talking about a M11/9 here. How is that ever going to pass the not concealable test so I can ship it USPS? Yeah, I know about registered mail. Tell me how I can find a 16" barrel for it.

I mentioned the macmachineguns.com guys to someone on reddit the other day and they called and were told there's a 6 month wait on any work.

That sounds about right, I sent a M10 to Sam and Tina on Nov. 1st, 2021 for an Uzi mag conversion and some other work. I got it back completed on April 28th, 2022. It was absolutely worth the wait, but anyone sending a gun in should be prepared for it to be gone a while.
