So I have a Mac 10 with a Mk2 and now am looking for something smaller to complement it and am trying to decide between a Mac 11/9 or a Mac .380

I pretty much only want to get one more mac (ie afford), so I have to choose only one....currently I am leaning towards the .380 as the Max-31k & MAX-11A1/9 mk2 look drool worthy....

So am I missing something? The Max-31k is for the Mac .380 and not the Mac 11-9 right? Is the Mac .380 sturdy enough to stand the test of time with a 9mm lage upper or is an 11/9 beefier? I originally chose the Mac 10 because I wanted something built like a brick shithouse and that is certainly what I got lol.

Ok here you go
Max31k= M11a1
Max31=M11/9
Max31a= M11/380,M11a1- both small and large magwells
Max11a1= M11a1 or M11/380 ( FYI Max11a1 comes in 9mm or 380acp but the 9mm only works in the larger magwells )

***The MAX-31k is for the M11/A1***

Either platform is great. Just watch out with the A1 if you plan on using a MAX-11 upper. There is a small and large magwell version. The large magwell is preferred since it accepts standard M11/Nine mags.

Thanks guys but I am now even more confused lol....so does the large magwell accept standard M11/Nine mags AND Zmags...or is it the small magwell that acceps Zmags?

I have been looking at this Mac from Spiwak...is it a large or small magwell? Is it a M11A1? I suppose a Max-31k is what I am looking to support the most.

The large Magwells will accept zmags, zytels and so on...
The small magwells only accept the original or aftermarket .380 mags.
There might be some other combinations that I missed, but above is the just of it!!

I might be a bit prejudiced, but I like the SMALL mag well 380. With a Lage M31A upper, you have two completely different guns. You'd have the Max31A, hands down the best combo for competition AND a subgun able to be worn in a shoulder rig without looking like the Hulk going to the prom. The 380 gun is very close in size to a 1911 Colt 45.

I said I was maybe a bit prejudiced, but not really... I own all the different size Mac family guns. I really do like the 380. I have one M10/9, two M11/9s and the 380. All but the M10/9 are race guns.

Very interesting points shattered. I originally was gonna go with a M31A but that 31k looks so sweet even though I know I would probably be better off with the longer M31A as I have long arms.

So can anybody tell me what kind of mac that Spiwak 380 is? Is it a M11A1....or is it something else? Does it have big or small magwells, I cant tell as everything looks small compared to my M10 lol

Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe: SWD = large mag well (zytel and zmags work) and RPB = small, need 380 mags. So the Spiwak should have the large mag well.

I started with a M10/9 and put Lage upper on it and it is a tank. I decided I wanted another so I got the M11/380 small magwell because of its compact size and stupid fast cyclic rate. I bought a Max 31a for it and absolutely love both combos. If I had to do it over I would go with the large magwell 380 instead. Having the zmags and the option for a Lage max 11 in 9mm is a big plus. The gun your looking at has sam's folding Uzi stock which I have on both of my macs which is the best stock in my opinion. The M11/9 has more options for it and seems to be sky rocketing in price compared to the other macs and over time will probably increase in value more. I never have cared for the longer look of the m11/9 personally.

If go with an M11/9, but I am prejudiced because that's what I have. I think as things come out, there is more room for developments on the m11/9 platform. For example, a 22 Kit.

I started with an M11/9 and was going to get a .380 Mac or another of the Mac family, but ended up going with a BRP U9 for my second (and probably final) MG

Instead I am probably going to look into building a .380 upper that will fit on my M11/9

I have a /9 and am very happy to have it. It obviously has the most options currently.

However I'm looking for a large magwell M11a1 to do a dedicated .22lr gun, copying strobro's build.

The small magwell one might be cheaper though. There's one for sale on here for $4500 with a suppressor.

Something to think about.

I'm not big on "BIG". I like the idea of having the option of using drums but not a big fan of the larger uppers. I like the Max 31K. It's a good compromise and a good looking upper, well proportioned to my taste. I wouldn’t mind having a 380 gun for that upper but that would be the only reason I would pick the 380 gun over the M11/9.

That's the large magwell SWD M11-A1 in Spiwak's ad. There's a converted Argentine PAM-2 magazine depicted at the top of the mags in photo plus a couple of other mags I can't readily identify. A few very early SWD .380acp guns use the small magwell, so it's important to know what you want and what you're buying in a SWD gun.

The benefits to a large magwell SWD .380 acp gun are the ability to use the same magazines as the SWD M-11/9. These include the OEM Zytel mags, modified PAM-2 mags, modified Madsen mags, and the currently produced Z-Mags. All of these magazines are considerably cheaper than new production magazines for the for the PS or RPB .380ACP guns and their small mags wells.

Shared magwell commonality allows for use of the Lage MAX-11A1/9 upper. This allows cheaper and harder hitting 9mm to be fed through the existing .380 gun's magwell which isn't possible with the earlier produced Military Armament Corp. or RPB M-11s. It's possible for current Lage .22 conversion kits to be modified by the end user for the .22LR conversion, and perhaps one day Richard will offer one for sale.

*I own or have owned all sizes and calibers of "MACs" produced by every manufacturer except JAWs . In my opinion, the SWD M-11/9 offers the most options and is my favorite gun simply because of the large number of accessories and uppers. The SWD M-11A1 is very close behind. If there was an off the shelf .22 kit available for this smaller gun, I'd pick it over the M-11/9 all week long and twice on Sunday. It's just so damn cute!

Personally I'd pay a touch extra for the M11/9 as in the end I think it will appreciate the highest $$$, you can do a lot with it now, and 9mm is cheaper than 380
