I have an M11 .380 bolt that has a little ledge sticking out on the back of the bolt (shown on the bottom edge of the picture). I believe it is a cast bolt. A few questions:

1) Did original MAC and/or RPB bolts have that ledge?
2) What is the ledge for?
3) I noticed it cut a sliver off of a buffer I installed. Is that normal? I suppose the buffer might have been too wide.

I had that on one of my RPB bolts. Someone told me that it was added to make sure there was not a visible space behind the bolt in the ejection port window.

Thanks! Seems like as good an explanation as any.

For me it was easy to check. Sure enough, without the extension, there would be a space behind the bolt in the ejection port window.

It’s just another version of the cast bolt made by RPB. It was extended in that spot seemingly because the other version left a visible gap in the ejection port at the rear of the bolt. I’m not sure which casting MAC used. Fairly certain this one is RPB.

I was racking my brain trying to figure out why it was there and what function it could possibly serve. Sometimes it is easy to overlook the simple things.
