Problem is I have a m11/9 and m10/45 but not a m11a1.

You have one, in the form of an M11/9. Just install a spacer on the ass end to replicate the M11A1's dimensions. If you can get a stock M11A1 upper to fit, you hit the mark.

That .308 upper sound like the titties :D

I believe a person has up to one year to file a patent after initial public disclosure.

I have no intention of seeking a patent for this and truth be told the main reason I put this out here is to show what can be done and help get it to market for everyone. I started working on this a year ago and put it aside to make the replacement SABRE sear catches which took way longer than I thought it would. If someone wants to copy it and market it or if someone wants to work with me to market these I'm all for it. My day job pays way more than I could make making and selling a few hundred receivers. I'm just tired of waiting for someone else to make them so if I have to I'll make them myself.

About to be sent off for ATF ruling. 7.5 inch barrel, 5.6 lbs and 100% unmolested ar15 parts. Didn't bother to round the edges or add any "style" to it since I may never see it again. This one uses the same type of recoil system as the SABRE, if its approved I'll do a second submission with a different sear catch / recoil system once I get the design flushed out.

Hey Richard!!!!! Are you watching this???? I'm smelling a MAX-15 in the making!!!!!

Thanks a lot, now the rest of us have to deal with the BATFE wait right along side you. :( Seriously though, I'm super into a reasonable 223 upper! I would ask about an estimated price but I know were are WAY early for such questions. Fingers crossed for approval.

So here is a teaser for you guys. How cool would it be to be able to remove the bcg "ALMOST" as easy as it is with a ar15 ? , WITHOUT having to split the case open ? Its doable with the m11/15 :)

It would be awesome to have the bcg remove that easily, that was always the PITA with the sabre design, 5 million screws to take out and put back any time you want to clean the damn thing or crack it open to change calibers.

I'd definitively buy one or hell, happy to help beta. My Dillon Autodrive has been churning out .223 and .300 BL like there's no tomorrow. :)

You would think that a Max10/16 could be converted to 300 blackout pretty easily.

Tuning for subsonics or supers may would be a little difficult. An adjustable gas key would be almost required I would think. I've gotten my suppressed/blackout upper tuned for subs. And while loading my subs with pistol powders, make it a very quiet platform for sure. Much better than factory offerings.

mak91, if this is a direction that you're interesting in going, I would be glad to help you any way that I could. I have a lot of practical experience in this area, and a lot of industry contacts that I could call on if I needed to.

I understand you're wanting to concentrate on the M11, and I understand that. But it's a sincere offer if you do want a hand with anything in the M10 series if I can help.

I'm sure that's going to catch a lot of attention from a lot of guys.

Myself, I'd be more into a 223, but just hearing M10 and 308 in the same sentence puts my imagination into overdrive.

First disclaimer, if you like brutal recoil/"big boom" more power to you. I personally I've shot a HK91 with a sear, M14 RR, and a FN FAL RR. I thought they all sucked. 99% of the rounds I shoot are in the off hand position. I don't much like laying on my belly like a reptile. A tripod is okay for my water cooled M16 but it is not my favorite. All three of those .308 guns have long and heavy barrels. So off hand I need to push up rather hard to hold that long heavy barrel up. As soon as I pulled the trigger I had to transition from pushing up hard, to pulling down hard. By the time I pulled the barrel back down on target the 20 rd mag was empty. There is also the expense. .308 is around twice the money of .223. A shorter barrel would certainly help, (I'm thinking of the HK 51) but then the fireball gets so big I can't see the target even in bright daylight. So I'm shooting in the general direction of the target because I can't see it.

Do I think there is a market for .308 upper? Sure there is. Just as I think there is a market for a 12 gauge full auto shotgun upper. But I bet that market is pretty small compared to .223 upper using AR mags. "mak91" I'm so impressed with your work. I certainly hope your upper comes to market. I think there is a .308 market, but look at transferable prices of .308 RR compared to the M16 RR. Once upon a time .308 RR were more money than the M16. Now that M16 is double the price. Why? I think it is versatility, ammo price, and recoil. I hope someone picks up this design and runs with it. Thank you for trying to improve the platform.

i just mention it because someone designed it and went through the approval...and now anyone can just copy it for free?....im sure its the case since the company put out the drawings and is no longer there.....

AA didnt put a patent on their design?

Maybe because they didn't design it. Michael was pissed because ATF deep-sixed his original design (which he DID design). The only thing that happened was I suggested he re-submit using the Task recoil system at the Marietta machinegun shoot. He had 100 uppers almost ready to go that were about to become junk...and you all know the rest of the story.
