About to be sent off for ATF ruling. 7.5 inch barrel, 5.6 lbs and 100% unmolested ar15 parts. Didn't bother to round the edges or add any "style" to it since I may never see it again. This one uses the same type of recoil system as the SABRE, if its approved I'll do a second submission with a different sear catch / recoil system once I get the design flushed out.

I'm a m10 guy too, only reason I did the m11 first was because I have 2 SABRE m10 uppers and none for the m11. Sorry no vid's.

Alliance armament has no issues w/ you using their design?

glad to hear your an m10 guy....if your successful you wont forget us then!

why did you choose a 7.5" barrel vs a 11.5" ? trying to make it more manageable than the original over sized Sabre?

Not sure what you mean by AA not having an issue with using their design. Did they invent or patent the claimshell upper ? The rod through the receiver to a ar15 recoil system ? Not to take anything away from them for what they did but lots of the "design" of the SABRE has been around for awhile. My sear catch is quite different then theirs other than its a piece of metal attached to a ar15 bolt carrier which is like the SABRE. My upper uses 100 % un modified ar15 parts unlike all the custom parts / machining on the SABRE. Since they seem to have made the plans for the SABRE available to others to use would they even care if there is another rifle conversion upper ? If they have a issue with my upper they can let me know and we can talk.

I ran this with a 300 blackout barrel using subsonic 240 gr smk just to see if it would run. It did. I wanted to send it to the atf with a 5.56 barrel and did want to spend money on a barrel so I used a spare barrel I had which just happened to be 7.5 inch. No other reason for the length.

Congratulations on completing your upper for evaluation. Since it is based on an approved design, I would think that it should be approved. It is my understanding that unless a design has been patented, anyone can use it. There is a thread here where someone is building their own S.A.B.R.E. using the information Magtech released to the general public. So I can't imagine they would have a problem with it. Please keep us updated on your progress. It is so great you have the skills to make this happen.

mak91, you are the first to do the right design in my opinion...as many standard AR parts as possible! Awesome work. Fingers crossed for a swift ATF approval.

Great to see the progression and glad that the Mac ingenuity lives on. I continue to believe it is the most undervalued and overlooked platform in the MG world. Lage with the enhancements and uppers, Marty with the Zmags, and now the possibility of a lightweight 5.56 upper, all point to a great platform.

I had my M11-9 out with the Lage K upper on it this weekend and it was putting smiles on the faces of everyone who shot it.

FYI, the AA folks have no problems with the design being copied, in fact they sent the link to the SABRE drawings, which I posted on this forum some time back.

i just mention it because someone designed it and went through the approval...and now anyone can just copy it for free?....im sure its the case since the company put out the drawings and is no longer there.....

AA didnt put a patent on their design?
