Bad thread title, but what the hey.

Anyone have a good way of mounting a light to a Galil without adding a box full of stickle bricks to the fore-end? (I should note that my rifle does not have a bayonet lug.)

Well, if you don't want the railed hand guard. I guess you could barrel mount it. You could put it on top of the bbl. or, on either side, just infront of the hand guard but behind the gas block. You would have to "cobble" something together.

Just thinking out loud. Good luck!

Heres some pics of a light mount made by a local gunsmith here in South Africa, it mounts just in front of the gas tube on the gas block. He also makes one with a short 1913 rail. Price is in the region of $40. It's made from alumunim.

The one with the 1913 rail will accommodate a SF E2D if you have a separate mount ring like a CAA or similar.

I have a LaRue mount that would work, but it's awfully bulky.... I'll have to see if I can find something lower profile.

The guy I bought my Golani from did it this way. Attached a short rail to handguard, then bored out some rings to fit the LED tactical light. Works pretty good. Thinking about removing the light and adding a green laser.

The micro does co witness. I actuall keep the rear irons at the night site position to not interfere when using the micro.
