Is it correct that you can shoot 12ga shotgun shells if you use a rifled insert or am I full of it?

Mostly just flares and chalk rounds?

Hell one of you guys probably owns one of those that has gone thru my hands in the past building them or laser engraving them. They are sold as smoke and flare launcher but with the correct approved paperwork they will fire all 37mm shells except any that need rifling to activate.

Grogs is a great site. Slow on traffic sometimes but lots of great people there.

I have one of the Spikes 9" launchers and love it. Very well made and you can also get 37 to 26.5 adapters and 12 ga flare adapters and Mark at MLR Distributing has some great reloadable cases as well.

Yeah, I saw that a while back. Looks like this is going to be a fun little hobby. I had been considering doing something in black powder, but this looks a little more tacticool.

I know mark and he's also here in the orlando area. Knows his stuff and will answer any questions you have. I believe he's working on getting those reloadable shells patented.

Yeah, I meant non-DD. So no shotgun rounds without a Form 1?

That is correct...only 12 ga flares allowed without a DD stamp.

If you're interested in getting into the whole 37mm thing, you have a few options:

1. Go with what you posted and enjoy shooting the flare, chalk and parachute rounds.

2. Register the receiver as a DD and be able to expand your choice of ammo to include shotgun shells and other 37mm anti-personnel rounds.

3. If you're going to go through the trouble of NFA, spend the extra dough and get a 40mm receiver with both barrels and further expand your choice of ammo to include various 40mm rounds.

Whatever you decide, enjoy!

I was considering the same decision a few yrs ago, even joined Grog's site. I concluded #3 on tunnelrat's list but never went through with it in the end. Just was not worth looking mallninja w/o HE rounds. ;)

My M203 is the only thing I reload for. Launchers are fun. There is a huge performance difference between 37mm smooth-bore and 40mm rifled. If you do get one, get Grog's reloading CD, lots of good info, lots of launcher porn.

No his site is not dead.

He reviews and researches each user before they join.
He does this to make sure your following the law and not doing something illegal.

I'm a member, I have the 26.5 mm BRNO launcher with a F1 on it.

Site is a pyro or reloaders dream for any launcher.

I launch a strange mix of 4 chems that SMOKE like the dickens, Burns like thermite, and is so bright it's a long burn flash that you are un able to look at or put out until it burns it's self out.

I would say get the launcher ( of your choice) then send out a form 1
Then spend the time researching and collecting info for reloading it, while you wait for the F1 to come back.

Once that F1 one is back PLACE A Chem order and have at.

Like another member said they are a HOOT!

I haven't been to Grog's site for quite a while now, and it hasn't changed.

I used to have a 37mm flare launcher, but after a couple of years I sold it to fund other projects. I set my launcher up as a stand alone device, not attached to another weapon. It just seemed easier to handle that way, and much more prone to being used. Smoke and chaulk rounds are fun, for a while.

I just got tired of the thought police on Grog's site. Making A$$umptions tends to make me tired.

Yeah finally got approved for the site and spent hours researching and learned a lot. Just not a lot of new posts on there to learn more. But from watching vids on YouTube from exotic firearms and others I think I'm half way there. Thanks for all your help guys :)
