Legally converting a Simi Mini Uzi to Full Auto

I recently purchased a Full Auto Full sized uzi with a registered trigger. Up to now I never heard of a registered trigger group just the receiver or gun, but this is the trigger. As I understand it, because it is the trigger group that is registered I can move it to another uzi, my Mini Uzi. My question is, what is needed to covert a IMI mini to a full auto? On that same note, can I move the trigger group to my Micro Uzi as well? It would be neat to have the ability to have all 3 legally interchangeable. (understanding the short barrels only go with the auto trigger group and must be removed with trigger)

I have never heard of a registered Uzi trigger pack. This doesn’t sound right.

What is the exact wording on your Form 4 for 'Type of Firearm'?

I have a Fleming RR with the “Deluxe” conversion that he did. When I was researching Fleming conversions, I found some info that references Fleming registered sears.

Yes you are correct. Registered sear, and yes it was fleming.

Nice! Learn something new every day. When discussing the “most desirable” Uzi threads that pop up all the time, I’m surprised these aren’t #1 on the list.

Maybe RoverDave will chime in on your options for using the sear in additional platforms. I’m sure he could point you in the right direction.

Sears are wear items and will wear out or they can and do break.
It certainly wouldn’t be my idea of the most desirable Uzi. Not at all.

I had a sear snap in half once. The trigger wouldn’t reset. I dropped the lower and I was surprised to see that.

Lots of issues here so let me try answer some of them. First, your registered full auto grip frame will not fit properly on an UZI Pistol/Micro so that's not an option.

As far as putting the registered grip frame on the Mini, I think there are two issues. First, the sear in your grip frame has two locking lugs and that won't work with a closed bolt in a Mini UZI, so you would have to use an open bolt. The Mini open bolt has the feet that stick out the front and won't function in an unmodified semi-auto Mini UZI. You would have to remove the feet, which causes some functional issues but would also be of questionable legal status to have when the registered grip frame isn't in the gun with it. But the second issue is really the biggest. Your registered grip frame isn't enough to convert your full size. In addition to that he either removed the blocking bar or supplied a slotted bolt. That collection of modified parts are married to each other. If you put the grip frame on another gun you still have a full size UZI with modified parts in it so you would be attempting to have two machine guns. You can't legally move just the registered grip frame to another gun.

thanks RoverDave,
Looks like my grand plan is not going to work out like I wanted. Soon as the transfer is complete to auction it goes!

But now at least you wont have worry about ATF violations. Those are never easy to resolve and always expensive
