Leatherwood M10A1 SMG assembled internals?

First time, long time. I've already done lots of searching and reading but am unable to find a some specifc information for to the Leatherwood Texas Macs.

I own a Leatherwood M10A1 SMG. Yes, not an SWD rebuild. No, I'm not looking to update. Welds, I know. Just looking for some info I couldn't find.

I'd like to find a picture or diagram of the original internal parts setup. It's the one bit of info I've really not been able to find. I know the saftey and FCG are slightly different than other Mac10s.

Both my original 9mm DF upper and aftermarket .45 upper work in both semi and FA, but I'm looking to identify some extra parts.

I bought it with minor upgrades already done, stock and mag catch, and a bag of the extra parts. I'm looking to identify the parts on the right and their installation. Left parts are obviously for the original stock mount.

The only thing I've been able to find is the below picture from a sale post from 2010. It shows them and says their leftovers from an SWD upgrade, so I know they're original parts. (https://www.uzitalk.com/forums/inde...herwood-texas-mac-m10a1a-upper-and-fcg.51195/)

The part on the right is the original mag catch. The one I had many years ago was supposedly dual-use. If installed with one of the "legs" up, it would work with the .45 magazines and with the other leg up it would work with the 9mm magazines. The spring is probably the spring for that mag catch, but I'm not sure- been a long time.

Thanks, that makes sense. It came with a couple mag catches so I figured that part was something else. I'll have to try swapping it out to see if it works.

Yep it’s the spring for the leatherwood dual
Purpose mag catch. The gun was advertised as “convertible” and the mag catch can be flipped like you said. I had a texas MAC for ages before I removed the mag catch and took a close look at it and figured this out… then I acquired some old Texas MAC literature and it mentioned the mag catch and that confirmed it.

I like the original Texas SMG… OP.. glad you aren’t rebuilding it , there are very few original Texas SMGs left that haven’t been rebuilt by SWD or someone else, they have become rare and unique pieces of MAC history. In my opinion a lot of features on the Texas guns are an improvement, his execution was just poor on the earlier spot welded guns. The stock, safety, easily disassembled bolt construction, larger cocking handle and the factory muzzle brake were all improvements on the original design. Leatherwood was part of the design team at the original MAC Company and worked with Ingram to design the M10A1 stamped version of the gun that never saw production, his Texas SMGs implemented quite a few features of that M10A1 stamped prototype.

By the way the fire control group is exactly the same, the safety is the only part that differs.

I had mine sent to Sam and he replaced many parts w rpb parts. Magwell. Re welded.

Appreciate the insight. I've found and read about as much as I could find on the Leatherwoods from various sources, including the majority of your posts here. I've just been unable to find specifics on the internals. I have noticed some specific differences with the trigger and spring which I describe more below.

Looks like mine didn't come with the muzzle brake which is too bad. This is the first I've heard about it. (If anyone out there has one for sale let me know.)

This will be my shooter so, while I don't plan on rebuilding it to the "normal" style, I will be replacing some parts myself and saving all the original parts. I definitely will *not* be permanently altering anything original.

I'll be getting a Lage upper and don't plan on firing the original 9mm upper much, if at all anymore, for fear of breaking something due to the lack of parts availability. The bolt is definitely different from everything I've read and seen.

I want to keep everything true to form but plan on replacing the trip and sear (and probably pins) with modern parts and to prevent wear on the originals.

My trigger and spring setup is entirely different than "normal" Macs, specifically with how the disconnector is engaged. The "normal" spring has a vertical leg that that hold the disconnector against the sear. My spring doesn't have a leg. My trigger has a special notch the spring sits in to hold the disconnector forward. It almost looks like an oversized AR spring.

Here is a picture of a normal style trigger/spring (Lage SF Comp) vs my Leatherwood. I am in the process of getting the new trigger/spring to work but have been running into a few hiccups due to tolerances with the safety plate. Obligatory full firearm picture.
