when NFA tracker says mine should be approved i call once a week...1/2 the time its already approved.....the most ive called is 3x on any 1 gun other than a couple of the latest

if i had not called multiple times i would not have found one had failed (it had failed 2 weeks before, but the person on the phone said nothing the 1st time, the 2nd time they said it was kicked back)....the seller had not contacted me and i have no idea what he was thinking....i was able to contact the inspector directly and had to fix all the issues she had as the seller didnt seem to be able to do anything....so calling saved me from getting out of line, kicked back and having to start over another 7 months....so it does have its purpose

my latest issue is a missing stamp.....they refuse to let me contact the inspector over this issue...would be nice to make 1 phone call and have a certified copy in the mail the same day vs this extra 30 day process im in the middle of...6 weeks approved w/ no stamp

calling does have its purpose

calling every week when your gun is no where near being approved i would agree serves no purpose....for me? i will continue to call when the NFA tracker says my item should be nearing approval

:)I bet you're one of those guys that have to tell them about all your other NFA guns and how this one shouldn't have been taking so long and blah blah blah..... just admit you're part of the problem....lol....:silly

For those of you hell bent on continuing to Badger the NFA Branch here's some food for thought ....it's an Instagram post from one of the guys at Capitol Armory

Great thought! No reason whatsoever to call if the check was cashed (hey, they got the form in their hands) and it's less than six, or whatever number of months the current turnaround time is.

One needs to be prescient in order to know whether or not there is a problem. My dealer for my March MG purchase e-filed the form three, and it was approved in the usual short order. Unfortunately, the approval was never posted to him. It took some calling to figure it out. It took an extra month before it got to my home state dealer and I could start the form 4.

Sent out Form 1 to build a SBR in mid May, stamp came in yesterday. 6 month and a week, not too bad considering the times we are living in ...
The gun is a Calico M-100. As seen in Spaceballs!

Yeah, within 2 months, efile will be backlogged and you'll get through quicker sending in snail mail because everyone will swamp efile and hardly no one will be mailing paper.

If it's any consolation, I have 2 paper F1's on someones desk right now. One submitted back in the end of June. The other about a month ago just a few days before they opened efile back up :bang

What is the usual wait time these days to get the stamp? Last time I purchased a NFA item in June 2016 and did not get the paperwork and stamp until Dec 2018. I had heard the process is much quicker now? Please and thanks

I'm still waiting since Halloween day 2018 for a paper form 1.

Many efiles are going within 3-6 weeks, but that is different from a form 4.

I will add I got some batch approval of forms pending from December onward and got my uzi approved from mid June at same time. If you are lucky to get batch approval its pretty cool. Still have some forms from May pending. No rhyme or reason.

Wait times went to hell last summer when SiCo ran their BOGO sale. All the extra transfers bogged down the process. My last approval of a Form 4 to Trust was as Follows: Form 4 Submitted 8/8/18, check cashed 9/17/18, approved 8/22/19, received at dealer 8/29/19. So it is about a year for Form 4s. My grandson had a form 4 on a suppressor that was submitted a week after mine and it was received at the dealer on 9/3/19 so about the identical time frame. I don't expect it to get any better anytime soon since all of the "free" SiCo cans just got to dealers and had form 4s submitted in the past two months.

Maybe in another year it will start to improve again. Prior to the flood of forms last summer, mine were averaging a little over 200 days from check cashed to approval. That still sucks but it is a lot better than 350+ days.

^on top of that, the Govmt shutdown early this year closed the ATF and bogged things down for a few extra months. Imagine loads of new forms coming in and just piling up. No bueno

Just got a paper Form 4, (individual) stamp back today. Mailed 26 Jul 2019, check cashed 31 Jul 2019, approved 15 Oct 2019 and received 22 Oct 2019. 88 days; mailbox to mailbox.

Dealer mentioned that all individual forms mailed after June are coming back within 90 days. If they were mailed out before June, then they will process like they have in the past.

Yep, sent in a four pack of Form 4s in early July. Approved Sept 21st. Got them two weeks later. 2 cans, 2 MGs.

Great news and congrats. I wonder if this is also the case for Trust F4's. Just received my stamp (Trust with only 1 responsible person) and it was roughly Nov '18 to Sept '19, basically 10 months. It would be nice if the times were really down to 3 months for everybody.

im about to mail a form 4 in and ive decided to do an individual and once I get the gun ill spend another $200 to move it to a trust.

90 days vs 365 ? id easily pay $200 extra for that

trusts have not moved 1 dot in 2 weeks on NFA tracker. I wonder if they are even working on them anymore
