Just traded for some magazines, parts and a couple of M10 silencer. The Gemtec is NIB and the other is an SWD, both in 45. There is a 45 Grease Gun drum, 50 round magazine, 3 40 rounders, a bunch of MK760 magazines and some other odds and ends.

They’re not that rare, they pop up on GB from time to time, and sturm, but be prepared to pay at least $500 to get one when it pops up.

I bought a couple custom 50rs GG sticks from an UTer a few years back. Heavy!

People have modified ProMag 1911 mag pattern 40 round, .45 ACP drums for use in the HK USC by grafting on the stick mag. There's a "How To" on the web. I've thought about doing something similar with an Uzi, 10 round stick mag and ProMag 40 round, .45 ACP drum, but haven't pursued it.

I have considered this as well for the MAC and UZI but haven’t attempted it yet (especially with the Uzi drums made from Suomi drums going for $600+). The MAC drum is made from a Thompson drum I believe, with a grease gun tower welded to it obviously, but the 1911 .45 drum would probably work as well if a grease gun tower will fit on it. From what I understand it’s easier said than done to make these SMG drums with the towers, gotta perfect it with the belt of dummies to push the rounds up the tower and adjust the number of dummy rounds until it works right etc.. I may take a crack at it this winter when I have nothing else to do.

Do they run ok? I believe the M10 drums are made from 50rd Thompson drums. CMP used to manufacture 50rd m10 .45 stick mags, sold through Euclid sales, Texas MAC advertised them in their brochure as well, ive seen a few but have never tried one, always imagined they must weigh ton. given the success rate of the 40rd mags they made, I never had high hopes for the 50rd stick performance.

Way back when, the late "Drum Doctor" Merle Bitikofer (sp?) made 50 round "drum mags" for M1/M1A1 Thompsons by grafting a cutdown 30 round Thompson stick mag to a 50 round Thompson drum mag. I don't recall any reports of 100 round drums being so converted, and I had him make a one of the 50 rounders which was somewhat awkward as it hung down. I don't recall what the cost for his work was, and I submitted one of the 'made in Taiwan' drums and a WWII era stick mag for the conversion, which always worked flawlessly. I sold the drum along with the M1/A1 Thompson years ago.
The closest conversion type thing I have now is a ProMag 40 round, 1911 .45 ACP stick mag pattern feed tower drum installed into a Blind Squirrel Enterprises 1911 mag to AR magwell adapter. It's used for shooting .45 ACP in an M16, and has always worked well, but like the drums on a Thompson, there is no LRBHO.
A while ago I sent ProMag a request to make 50 round 9mm and 40 round .45 ACP drums for the Uzi. No reply, and so far, no such drums being offered.

On July 28, 2007, the Vector MSRP for their "68 rd. drum mag. For UZI 9mm" was $262.50. [A Grease gun magwell was $255.05.] I've got a couple of the Vector 9mm drums (actual capacity is 68-72 depending on where the rotor is indexed), but as they are now so valuable, I'd like to see a lower cost (and more compact, plus lighter weight) 50 round capacity option available. In addition, the polymer drum bodies used by ProMag are more dent damage resistant than steel drums.

[A&S Conversions]

Years ago I spoke with Merle about a .45 drum. At the time I had a M1A1 Thompson and a custom MGI magwell for a Ron Williams DI .45 upper. We used a 9mm drop in magwell adapter to use Thompson mags. The gun smith adapted the BHO feature to use with the Thompson mags in the MGI magwell.

Merle said that the mag catch in both the Thompson and the AR was not strong enough to hold a 100 round drum. I had thought about using a strap to hold the drum up. But Merle refused. I lost interest in the project. 50 round straight mags are so much cheaper than a 50 round drum with a tower. Merle did great work. I should have bought one and use it for a template to make a 100 round drum.

I did get an Uzi Beta C before Betaco went out of business. They used a plastic collar to hold a Uzi mag body to the drum. That wouldn’t be too hard for someone to print for a 9mm Beta C.

It is a converted suomi drum. It’s one of the Barrel Xchange drums.

I thought it was one of the drums from double tap firearms out of PA (they’re made from Thompson drums).

Perhaps it's a Russian ppsh41 drum magazine? It would handle the length of the .45 ACP, the only question is if the snail track inside is wide enough to accommodate the cartridge.

It’s a suomi mag, The drums were made by barrel XChange using suomi mags.

They made a modified suomi drum mag that had a modular tower that could be used with various different firearms, the Suomi drum does apparently have enough room for 45 ammo in it.





Ppsh drums have been converted as well but I don’t believe it’s been done on a commercial scale
