just got back from shooting my new Sterling

Sweet shooting gun. Seriously nice. Light years better than a sten. Awesome mags. Well balanced and easy to hit steel at 50 yards in full auto with its iron sites. Lots and lots of fun. Immensely reliable. I shot at least 8 full mags -30+ per mag- and had only one hiccup. And these are skanky old brass reloads of mine.

The folding stock is great too.

Overall I'm starting to think that maybe , just maybe, all those Sterling fans arent just full of BS. They might be onto something. I enjoyed shooting it more than the Uzi. Cant say its quite at MP5 level but close.

I remember my first experience with a Mk4 Sterling like it was yesterday (1965). I am really happy to see you feel the same way today.

yeah i took my 17 yr old daughter to the range to shoot with me. she dislikes handguns but loves the mp5. she shot great with the sterling- first time with it--and was consistently ringing steel torso target at 50 yards .

My Semi Auto Sterling (Wiselite) is a dream. Accurate, ergonomic, and much less bulky/heavy than the Uzi.

hahaha...the builder ? funny you ask. here's what I cross posted asking that very question....



My sterling just arrived. Form 4 states manu as " UNKNOWN" and model # L2AFS1.

The SN is SxxxxJCB

the gun does not have crinkle paint but rather a more standard MG finish.

Markings on the top of magwell read " Sterling SMG 9m\m mk4 (L2A3) followed by the SN. There's another # stamped perpendicular to the above info which reads " N^Z1318" .

The bottom of the magwell has some sterling patent crap stampings.

I was told before I bought the gun that it was a proper Sterling tube and not a re-done up Sten tube--something about the cocking slot being "correct" etc.

That's why I bought the gun bc supposedly it was one built properly v. others with improper sten tube mods or legal modified sten tube designs (Stenling I assume).

Anyway...can someone shed light on this for me. This is my first time to even see a Sterling in person so I'm ignorant.

the marking are verbatim what I described above. I do prob think it is the RDIAS JCB dude as apparently he SN his rdias ending with "JCB" I 've been told.

I have an old Sten that on the approved form as manuf. has listed "FORM 2 REGISTRATION" ......kinda curious . Oh well. Whatever.

Ok. Here's a couple vids of my first Sterling outings. I guess the steel was at about 40 yards +/-.
Rock solid. No recoil. No uplifting. Repeated rings on full auto the entire time.

And another vid. Shows the gun better. My teenager shooting it. Again her first time handling this gun. While she's shot an Uzi and MP5 several times she's not a "gun gal" in general. Just a teenager. And she rings steel easily too.

For not being a “gun gal”, she shoots very well. I can see somebody has been teaching her. Good stance and holds the shroud (not the mag).

My daughter is grown up and has kids of her own now. Your video reminds me of the many good times we had shooting Sterlings when she was a youngster. Thanks posting the videos.
