I would like to introduce my new creation. The Katsár (pronounced "k-tsár") Uzi. Katsár is Hebrew for short. It is a Full size Uzi rear end with the front end of a Mini Uzi. The resulting Uzi is shorter with the stocks extended then either the full size or the Mini Uzi. It uses full size stocks, either the folding of quick detach stock so it is a very comfortable gun to shoot. Much more comfortable than the Mini Uzi. It uses a Mini Bolt, trunnion, forend, and barrel so it is much lighter then the full size Uzi. The Katsár is a very quick handling weapon and a joy to shoot. In opened bolt full auto it runs about 750 rounds per minute, a very pleasant speed. I will start conversions and production of new Katsárs very soon. They will come standard with Model "B" sights and your choice of stock and finish.

The below picture shows Full size Uzi (top), Katsár Uzi (middle), Mini Uzi (bottom).

Semi-auto question.

For a semi-auto mini Uzi bolt to work in the new receiver, what size buffer goes in the back of the receiver?

I am very interested in this new Uzi.

:cool.

I am going to start building a semi auto next week. There will be a spacer in the rear of the receiver that will be about the same length as a standard full size semi auto buffer, then a standard Mini semi auto bolt and spring assembly. I might lengthen the spring and buffer assembly so it works better but we will see.

I don't have a price yet. I just wanted to get one made to make sure it works, now I have to make one to figure out costs.

What would people be willing to pay?

What does a typical quality semiauto Uzi go for nowadays? GB is showing $1500 with reserve not met...

Since these are "custom" you could easily charge 20-30% more? They might end up being quite pricey.

What do we need to furnish in order to have a full auto Katsar? A registered FA mini bolt? If so, can the Katsar receiver be built around the registered bolt without any alteration to the bolt?

Great Idea!

Way cool build! Very happy with the Full Size Uzi Richard built for my FA bolt. His is a First Class operation from order to delivery of a superb product.

I seem to remember Vector charging around $1000 premium for their Mini vs. the fill-sized Uzis. But some of that may have come from the higher cost of some of the other parts (mini bolt, top cover, etc.).

Whether people would pay that on a semi-auto conversion, I couldn't say.

The Katsár has the same problem with registered Mini bolts as a Mini host does. You can not notch the trunnion to accommodate the feet on your registered bolt because the notched trunnion is what makes a Mini and Katsár receiver a machinegun. If your registered bolt doesn't have feet you have feed issues with feeding the first round. The best way would be send a registered receiver and I cut it down into a Katsár. Vector cut a lot of full size registered receivers down into Minis and I am only shortening the front end not the back. The Katsár is like the Mini Uzi it does not use a blocking bar to make a receiver semi auto it uses a notched trunnion to make it full auto.
