In 2015, what's the most reliable way to use a 9mm grip assembly with a 8mm pin recvr

Yes, I did search. Found some old/broken links.

I know there are reco's for using a 8mm lower on a 9mm receiver, little sleeves, but I need to try/test out the opposite - I want to use my '9mm' pin GG mag lower on my 8mm NoDak receiver to test out the 45ACP bits in it.

I noticed I'm getting crazy big patterns running the Bowers Can on the Vector/GI/GG Lower setup and I'm worried I'm getting a little bit of rub on the rounds going out the can due to a small amount of misalignment. (quick, everyone be shocked that a GI receiver may be out of spec)

Of course I could test this with a different style 45ACP mag (IMI or ProMag) but so far the ProMag mags I've tried don't fit into the standard lower I have and the IMI Mags are almost $100 on GB.

Figure there has to be a less-expensive solution to this, just not sure what's relevant these days.

Appreciate any tips/tricks.

Find a good welder, weld up the holes on your lower and re drill them.
Drill your receiver.
Find another lower.
Give up on .45.

Those are the only options that I can come up with.

I doubt that the problem has anything to do with the standard GI alignment issues. The problem GI receivers have is that the barrel trunnion is not in proper alignment with the receiver because the receivers are out of spec. That can cause feeding problems or sight alignment problems but it shouldn't cause the problem you described. If a suppressor screws on to the barrel nut threads (which is the front of the barrel trunnion), it should be in alignment with the barrel because the barrel trunnion would align both the barrel and the suppressor in the same direction. If your bullets are rubbing on the suppressor, it would be due to the barrel trunnion being screwy (which is not the typical GI alignment problem), or something is misaligned with the suppressor.

Short of the things listed in greenpeas' list, the easiest thing to do might be finding someone in your area with a semi-auto UZI that has a 9mm receiver and test your .45 setup in that gun rather than converting your NoDak receiver.

Do you get big patterns without the can? If the answer is no, then the problem is with the threads on the can or the barrel(if that is how it is attached). Put the can on another .45 if you can find someone with a threaded barrel.

No, pattern is tight and consistent without the can. The can mounts by replacing the barrel nut.

You can find a .45 truing rod at Brownsville and slide it down your barrel, then attach the can. You should be able to see if it's rubbing on one side as it screws on which is misaligned threads or if the hole wobbles it is the hole in the can off center

How could the GI receiver be causing the problem?

The bowers threads onto the trunnion and the barrel is aligned by the trunnion.

Tom offers exceptional customer service on every suppressor he sells. I own a CAC and the Uzi mount and it's a very well made if expensive adapter. Seems like a phone call to the manufacturer is in order.
