I have an IMI mini host with a registered bolt that looks great and performs flawlessly . However , I have started to think maybe I should have bought a Vector mini RR due to the fact it would give me more options on spare parts, different calibers and doing a close bolt conversion if I felt like it . Just for the record I have a Group FA full size and a Vector semi mini as well as a couple of IMI full size and mini semiautos. In my world IMI is the bar and Vector and Group don't quite get my blood going quite as well.

I'm starting to think I'm overthinking this and I'm pretty sure I will not be wearing out the registered bolt but I do think about it.

Thoughts anyone ?? What would you guys do?

Registered B&G Uzi bolt is my first machine gun and still have it. Ran flawless from day one.

The caliber conversion capability is nice on the registered receivers.
However, I had to tweak on my 22lr conversion for my registered receiver
for it to work. My 45acp Uzi conversion with the grease gun lower still does not work.
So, if you don't do caliber conversions a registered bolt is an excellent choice.

Long story short. I would not put the energy, time, and money into getting a
registered receiver Mini Uzi when you already have a flawless running mini.

With caliber conversions or close bolt conversion you will have to tinker and tweak.

I also have an IMI mini host with a registered bolt. The host was converted by Billistics. The bolt is Group. Mine shoots flawlessly only with 147 grain flat point. Was your mini converted by Billistics with a Group bolt? Does it prefer a specific ammo? Thanks.

It has a Group bolt with shortened legs and clears the restrictor ring. It was converted by Neal Smith and works best with any 115 gr ammo .

I'm in exactly the same situation as you.
Can't decide whether to "upgrade from my mini bolt gun to a RR or not. I have no functional reason to do so at all.

Same boat here . I talked to David Spiwak about it and he said unless you want to do a closed bolt setup or different calibers there's no reason to do it. It's not like you are likely to wear out the bolt LOL !

^^^yeah I dont give a hoot about cal changes. Man I used to be big into cal changes...bought kits for all my MGs...even those super expensive HK33 .22LR kits....ho hum. They are all super fast, mag and ammo sensitive and just dont do it for me.

I really ought to sell all my conversion kits.

hell I bought a 5th gen super nice and expensive 9mm kit for my AUG....It's still sittingin the box. I never even looked at it.

why do i do things like that?

hahaha.

always tinkering and not abiding by the MG golden rule... if it aint broke, dont fix it!

Same here . I have a lot of spare Uzi Parts thinking I'm the next Richard Hoffman and then none of it works consistently so I put all the original stuff back in the guns and go out and shoot them since they worked fine to begin with !!!

I too bitten by "Conversion" bug. Have the 45 ACP kit and two IMI mags. Two of Pro Mags too. Runs great. Have Heavy slowed rate of fire 9m/m & 40 S&W bolt too. Works well in 9. Have not tried out 40 S&W yet. Bought .22 kit and some mags. Not 100%, but close to 85%. All out of GI (Vector) Mini-Uzi. Threaded my barrel on .22 kit but have not ran suppressed yet.

If I were in your shoes, I would just keep it.

I am in the opposite boat, my rr Vector runs flawlessly on everything I feed it. And I am getting ready to play with closed bolt operation, once I get a few more parts, kinda nice to have that option…

However, If I had it to do over again, I would go IMI.

The quality is lower with Vector, and the “model-A” sights disgust me, which is funny cause I also have a railed top-cover, and can use optics anytime I want.

Yet for me, owning an Uzi SMG is really about “2nd kind of cool”, and nothing beats an original IMI, even if it’s a converted semi. With all the hassles of getting an NFA item, I will just keep mine, but someday I will have to get “Model-B” sights installed.
