I recently picked up a nice NOS IMI K grip for my Norinco 320, however it came without screws and the inserts/screw nuts for said screws. I picked up a set of screws but I'm having a bit of trouble finding a good solution for what to use to hold the screws in place since a regular nut doesn't do too much. The thread pitch I have on the screws is M3-0.5, the longer screws up top are x30mm, and the lower "Grip" screw is x25mm. Any suggestions on what I could do, or does anyone happen to have any grip nuts that would work with this K grip?

I was tempted to get some regular Uzi grip nuts, but I don't know that the pitch would be the same, unless someone here knows otherwise? I know that the regular handguard screws would not be long enough from what I have heard.

Here's a possible escutcheon - and I *think based on a quick micrometer probe of the screw holes* the original would be approximately 6.5 to 6.8 MM in outer diameter? Thus, these may / may not work. It's a thought though, and with some sanding they may slide in tight: Type This into Ebay search -

50pcs/M3 3mm M3-0.5 Brass Threaded Metal Heat Set Screw Inserts/For 3D Printing

OR McMaster Carr : https://www.mcmaster.com/products/nuts/slotted-round-nuts~/
Second from the top, M3-0.5 Slotted

Did you buy your K Grip new? I had a terrible time fitting mine to a frame. I had to adjust, wiggle etcetera and finally she went on

Fantastic, thank you!!! I'll just get some from McMaster Carr, to see if that might work better since it more or less looks like the original screw nuts.
Yes, I did buy mine NOS from Tommy at Vector Arms, I have yet to fit it, but will after my move to Texas.

Hey, be advised though - those are only similar, and may need to be sanded down a bit to fit in those holes :) I just looked around and found a close match. You know what I'm saying man. I don't want you to get your hopes up my friend. I've searched for escutcheons a few times also, it's a pain to get the exact fit. Buy a small amount to test, send em' back if they don't fit. McMaster is a great shop
Also, check back with Vector... He may have some escutcheons for your grip. They frequent this forum, can't remember his call sign though

I am currently in a battle to mount one of these to a Vecter rec.

The rear trunion hole is drilled incorrectly.
This wrecks the threads on screw.
I have dremilled the grip to "lower" it...no go.

Got to file or drill out the rear lug to make these grips fit.
Have 2 different sets......Same result with both.
Have ruined 2 screws hoping/praying they would go.
It justs wrecks the threads on the screws.

Now I need a tap to fix one nut...Probly have it but No good way to read writing that small on a Tiny ass tap.

Going by brail is the only best solution I got

Thanks! I'm all set on the screws, picked up some M3-0.5x25 & 30mm for good measure to have two different lengths.

Best of luck! I'm hoping it won't be too tricky when I go to install it on my Norinco 320.

TheDuke I had a hellofatime installing mine. I got so angry I threw it in the closet where it sat for a couple years. Then I played with it and finally got it installed. I think they are all rickity or cheaply made no offense to who ever sells em'.
I wound up half way screwing the screws in, adjusting/shimmying the grips around, then cinching them down til' they seated properly. So conclusion - I took them off and launched them back into a closet LOL. Maybe a better option would be that bayonet lug picatinny adapter - then jamming a simple grip on to that thing
The included screws are soft metal and mine are flat head. I'm gonna find some allen or other type stainless screws to replace them

Good to know. Worth at least playing around with mine a bit to see how well it works. I appreciate the honesty!

When I did finally get that grip installed, it was nice. Better control and felt good in my hands and looks great

I hate to re drill the rear lug but like above poster....the screws are soft/fine thread and start to gall real fast.

I will make mine happen but .....I figured it was a vecter thing...I honestly do not know yet.

I bought one set of 3 new screws.

Don't hate me...I bought SS allen head 3mm by .50 pitch by 25mm long like mentioned in the "other" thread.

Length is perfect..Yes i put antiseize on them..Food Grade..great stuff .. Way better than regular. silver

Screws fit but grip is not on gun......I'll be back to ace in the morning for more trinkets for jeep and will grab 3 more.

The allen head fits grip great...a sharpie will fix shine but No fuks given for me.

Fit over function.

I'll dig out the norinco soon...trying to tidy up loose ends on this Group/vecter thing and make it go bang....its yet to be shot but now or soon ..next week will have every caliber/bolt option and I want this mess thats scattered everywhere gone.

Keep us posted on how it goes with the Norinco, and if you have to make any modifications since I may need to do the same on mine once it's time to install.

Just sent my vecter/group unit off to Gunsmitth to thread 5 bbl's and fit the Grip.

Survey says the hole for rear grip screw is not located proper.

He insisted to take it and fix that....I can't argue with an Aussie.

Norinco will be up next as I have yet another set of K grips.

I don't mind sending this stuff out...It comes back working /looking perfect at a great price.

I will dig the Norinco out of its original box and investigate now that that other mess is gone.. Theres room on the bench again
