Do a sbr

Probably SBR in the near future. Just a fun gun. Have number of mags. I have a full size norinco, runs flawlessly and I fun to shoot. I think would make a nice pair.

I would say skip the purchase unless you have SBR plans.

I believe the ATF said last year that is in fact the case.

He might be referring to the response CZ USA got from Tech Branch when they wanted to sell factory SBR kits for their Scorpion EVO 3 S1 pistols.

ATF said no unless they also replace enough foreign parts with US made parts. It happened last year and is pretty common knowledge.

I believe the 922r compliant stock kits started shipping out near the end of last year.

Thank-you, I was completely out of the loop on this concern. How interesting that having the pistol designation can create the 922r coming into play. Assuming if it applies to manufacturer then it has to apply to SBR maker. Wondering if prior approved guns are now out of compliance? Just wondering out loud as this does not apply to my personal collection. Pistols have been the common sense way to go for SBR's so this is a wrinkle.

Please nobody write any letters to the alphabet agency as no good ever comes from it!

The Tech Branch rules on individual cases based on whether full auto, select fire, or SBR's from the factory are imported into the US. In the case of the Scorpion Evo 3 one or more of the mentioned weapons are available to US Law Enforcement and the military. Therefore if you SBR a pistol you are making a copy of an imported/restricted item and must turn it into a sporting rifle by swapping out a certain number of imported parts for US made parts. 922r is not a blanket ruling that applies to everything imported. That is why 922r does not apply to the SBR'd VZ61 Skorpion pistols. If BATFE decides to rule on the VZ61 then we would be screwed because there are no US made parts available. Same with the UZI Pro Pistol. The Tech Branch has not published an opinion on that import as well.
