I have a 14" upper on my Colt M16 carbine and I'd like to minimize muzzle climb to stay on target when doing 5-6 rd mag dumps. The muzzle device is proprietary to my suppressor so I can't change that but I'm thinking an H2 or H3 buffer would slow it down but I wanna keep it reliable. Will it short stroke with a 3? TIA

Using (lowest) ROF as the factor that I was most interested in, I ran some tests in the summer of 2022 using several buffers in my 1980 vintage Colt M16A1 Carbine with the standard carbine length buffer tube (not the longer A5 or JRC as used by some to provide lower ROF) and no spacer when testing 9mm and .45 ACP as I don't care about LRBHO for my own PCC usage. I was most interested in .22LR and 9mm ROFs but I did a several 5.56x45 test runs, but I only used a 16 in. barrel (I do have a 14.5 in. barrel 5.56x45 upper, but I have never shot it). If the use of a particular buffer did not also provide LRBHO, the buffer was not considered to provide "proper function", regardless of ROF, for 5.56x45 usage. For the 5.56x45 (Federal American Eagle, 55 gr., FMJ), the lowest ROF was provided by the combination of a SpringCo red recoil spring and KynSHOT RB5000HP hydraulic buffer, with a six run average of 775.5 RPM and standard deviation of 12. (Note: The lowest 9mm and .45 ACP ROFs were achieved with a different configuration).
(I do have A5 and JRC buffer tube setups installed on semi-auto AR-15 lowers for even slower, softer, smoother shooting. If I had a Registered DIAS that I could switch between lowers for full auto use, I would do so.)
Best of luck with whatever you decide to pursue.

Primary Arms has the Surefire Optimized Bolt Carrier. Amphibian’s site has some info on it. Seems to work.

I can attest that Amphibian's setup is super smooth and the way I set up my carbines.
