Called the SP5K. Anyone hear this? It is on their website. I wonder what the cost will be and also why is it allowed now?

There is something with German export law not allowing exportation and our import laws even with the receivers and I guess they are pushing it and building it here in the states. The pistol is allowed, but not the rifle version with the 86 or 94 law change not being sporting, someone more knowledgable may chime in. And I guess they are broke as well

When it comes to the civilian market... Hk has always stood for Hates kustomers.

Well....MKE/Zenith is trying to get their MP5SD's on the shelves here in the US.
Maybe that's what he's referring to?

$2700. Yup because they just can't seem to keep anything under the $3000. mark. Looks they tried as hard as they could this time.
This is a $1000. pistol at MOST!
WOW, $80 for a 30rd mag?

$2700 would buy something much nicer.

I saw it at the NRA convention the other week.

So, while the $2700 MSRP is high, it's already selling in pre-orders for between $2100 and $2200 (still not cheap and definitely still more expensive than some of other HK-style pistols on the market).

Problems with it (as defined by me, so feel free to not agree):

1. No three lug or threaded barrel. So, you'll need to replace the barrel to get it ready to run a suppressor (not cheap).
2. No paddle release (not a huge deal to me, but bothers other people).
3. Not sear ready. There is a full auto bolt block in the receiver on top and their new design semi auto bolt has a slot cut in it for it. So, you'll need to machine that down and then still buy a full auto bolt.

So, in order to get it sear ready, you'll have to do quite a bit of work (at which point, you could have bought an MKE for almost $1000 less and did that same work, or bought a Omega sear ready clone for $500 less and be good to go).

I don't really plan on getting one and I'll stick with my Coharie CA89 SBR. It may not be HK built and it might be a bit cantankerous when it gets dirty, but it runs with my sear.

No thanks HatesKustomers… I will save the $1K and get this one:

3-lug + 1/2x28 threads, paddle mag release, push pin lower…
They seem to be well liked on HKPro

Yes!!

With the introduction of SP5K, the prices of Original SP89's will go down.

No thanks.

There are several "clones" out there for much less.

Thing is, I use the word "clone" very loosely since most of the parts are actual HK surplus, or imported parts regardless of rollmark on the side of the receiver.

I think atlantic firearms has a POF brand mp5 in the $1200 ballpark right now.

FWIW, I own a clone and sbr'd it.

This last weekend, I bought a CZ Scorpion that I like better already.

Is it the name or quality? Like tools, you can buy Snap On or Craftsman, watches Rolex or Timex. I know I like quality even if I have to pay extra for it.

My experience after living with many non HK based clones - HK is expensive (so are beemers audis and benz did u notice) and high quality (good metal, machining and QC), IMO well worth it, my sp89 and other German based clones (most roller locked are) shoot and shoot and shoot. Ive had vectors and mke only to sell them after bunging around with parts that did not line up and fit issues amounting to just a PITA in addition to wasting my time at the range - buy cheap get cheap YMMV.
