Has anyone adapted a barrel for the Swede training ammo?

I would like to see a drawing of a cross-sectioned barrel for that ammo. I have 3.5 cases of that stuff and no barrel.

Somebody has made barrel(s) for that particular ammo in the past... he still visits here.

Possibly do a search, I think he posted barrels for sale in the past.

Check the subguns site also..

Yep - some were made up several years ago when the ammo was everywhere. They are basically just 9mm barrels with a 22LR barrel liner. The end of the barrel was profiled so that you could easily tell it was a sub-cal barrel installed. I wouldn't want to see what happens if someone accidental tried to shoot real 9mm out of it.

The aftermarket Uzi barrels aren't as accurate as real training barrels are for suomi and Ks, but they work.

He's a couple of pic of ours.

The linered barrels or a 22 barrel is unsafe with the practice ammo. You need a quality steel, not cheap 22 steel to safely shoot that stuff.

I know the guy that made the good barrels, I think he has a few Uzi barrels left. I'll ask him what he wants for them and post back later

I would really like to have one of the real 5mm barrels.

Problem with the .22 liner barrels is that the practice ammo is 5mm not .22.

Nice thing about the practice ammo is that the only change you have to make to the Uzi is to replace the barrel.

Since the ammo has a blue color to the nose, and a blue band around it, I spray painted the base plates of a few mags light blue. Those are the only mags I use for the practice ammo. Helps to keep me from accidentally putting a 9mm round in there. I would hate to even think of what that would do.

Cool...I appreciate that. :thumbs_up

I have a 7,62x25 barrel for my 760, but the casing doesn't go in far enough and I don't want to explode casings in my SMG. I might try it in a semi I have, as that's a little easier on the wallet to replace. :D

If I read your post correctly, it sounds like you might be trying to fire some of this ammo in a barrel that is not designed for it.

DON'T.

The round BB part of this ammo is 5mm in diameter. If you shoot it out of anything that is larger than that, the steel BB will ping all over the place down your barrel and eventually screw it up.

In addition, since the BB is 5mm and not engaging any of the barrel surface as it pings off of the sides down the pipe, there is no way to predict what direction it will travel once it leaves the confines of the barrel.

I checked with the original mfgr on the good barrels, all he has left is barrels for the Karl Gustov and the Sten MKII. Either style barrel is $200 each + ship

If they are not too hard it might be possible to sleeve the outside and recut it to Uzi profile

Unfortunately, I lack the necessary skills to accomplish something like that. But would be willing to finance the conversion of one or two of the barrels if anyone is interested.

Who has a drawing, shot out sample barrel, etc?

Who can give me the full caliber description so that I night get a chamber reamer?

I have a CNC lathe.

I have functional barrels and a couple of blown out barrels. Might be able to get a chamber casting off of the blown out barrels. have plenty of the ammo also.

Had a guy contact me wanting these barrels made.

From my searching it looks like they use a smooth tapered bore, no rifling.

If you have a good one for sale PM me and I can pass your info to him.
I get the feeling most of this ammo is used up and there is not a lot of demand for the barrels anymore.
Looks unlikely to pay for CNC cost.

I have one of the barrels shown above. When the Swedish training ammo was going for $34 per 1000 shipped, how could I not get one of these barrels? I think I bought 10,000 rounds of the stuff. When done shooting the ammo, you can sell the 36 round Swedish 9mm en bloc clips for 50 cents each. The spent shell casings are worth scrap value.

When shooting in my Vector FA Uzi, the ROF is extremely high. The ROF appears to be twice as fast as that of my Vector .22lr conversion and well over 1000 RPM. Plus, let's not forget the smell of burning plastic. Damn, this stuff is stinky as hell and should not be fired indoors. I wouldn't be surprised if the fumes given off were carcinogenic.
