Finally test fired the new Golani Galil I bought last week. Mag problems both loading and feeding. FTE several times with both 55 gr and 75 gr brass ammo. Some double feeds. Is it possible that the gas pressure is somehow the fault?
I doubt it, but its worth taking the tube off so you can look inside the gas block and check. are you using a surplus steel or poly magazine? I would check the shell extractor tension on your bolt. Also look inside your bore and make sure its not gummed up with the stuff from coated steel rounds.
Century has a bad habit of using very well-worn gas blocks, one of the worst parts you will find on one of their rifles. You may need to get a new one installed if there is heavy pitting/rust/wear. Next time you shoot, try breech-loading your cartridges one at a time and see if it still has FTE's.
That was my thinking. I tried breech loading the day I shot and it worked fine with both powder counts. Will check the gas block tonight.
Thanks again!!
